    Default Ve ssv afm tune

I know there has been heaps of threads on this but here we go. I have a ve 2010 ve ssv just lowered & fitting a ramjet otr on the weekend. Also looking at putting a 2 1/2 xforce exhaust on it but wondering where to go in melbourne south east to get the afm turned off? Also what would i be looking at price wise for the tune to do that. Putting some pics up over the weekend.

You would be better off spending the extra money on a better exhaust IMO.

There are far better systems out there than xforce, however if you're just after all out noise xforce may be the go.

Difillipo, KPM, VCM, Sureflow all make really nice exhaust systems for the VE.

Where abouts in the South east are you?

Tune prices will vary depending on where you go, a tune itself would be anywhere from say $900-$1100, but most places will offer some kind of package, exhaust/intake/tune etc...

You're better off in the long term going with quality, even if it costs a little more. I have a 2.5" KPM on my VE SSV and I couldn't be happier.

im located in Lyndhurst so not far from cranbourne. So many bloody systems to have to choose from, will have to go and chat at a exhaust place.

Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Horsepower Factory isn't far from there, there's also Autotechnique, bit more of a drive though.
Can't think of any other shops around, but I'm sure someone else will know of some.

As for the exhaust system, what's your budget? If you cheap out now you'll end up kicking yourself later down the track.
The systems I mentioned above are all good, I'll add Pacemaker to that list as well.

    Hi, I had my series 2 tuned and I may have a warranty issue so I decided to play conservative and get the walkinshaw power pack just to cover my ass. I went to Victoria to get this done as I was down for a small holiday anyway. So what you get is;

2.5" or 3" stainless exhaust (ABSOLUTELY DRONE FREE)
    Walkinshaw cold air intake
    And a tune.

    NOW KEEP THIS IN MIND!

The walkinshaw intake is a SS growler rebadged and they sound good but that's where it ends there rubbish still better than stock but not good enough! So I reccomend this get walkinshaw to do exhaust and time but use an OTR intake instead of walky growler. I used the VCM OTR with walkinshaw tune and exhaust which sounds awesome! And the tips are sweet as. I also got pacemaker headers fitted. Good thing about walkinshaw they don't mafless tune which means the factory maf and operating system is NOT removed. I made 340HP at the wheels on a dyna pack.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for that. Im fitting a ramjet otr on sunday. The walky exhaust is abt 2200 I think. Is it still pretty quite as didnt seem that loud on a ute on the net? Have u got afm? What did ur tune & exhaust roughly cost?

    Cheers

No mines manual mate, and the 3" on a ute sounds good but again loudness is a real preference.. Mine is adequate for me. It cost me $3,600 for VCM OTR, dyno tune, 2.5" stainless exhaust with walkinshaw tips. It's manufactured by HM Perry I believe. As for just exhaust and tune only that's a good question. All I can say is DO NOT TOUCH SHITTY REMOTE TUNES. You want someone who throws it on the dyno and actually watches how the car behaves and tunes it accordingly. People will get on here and stick up for remote tunes but think of it this way; it's like a doctor doing heart surgery via a computer. Walkinshaw isn't cheap but you are much less likely to have problems when and if you do battle with holden. They will laugh at you if they find out someone like "oztrack" drive through tune has touched it they will laugh at you.

Thanks guys for the info. Im goin to go with the walkinshaw exhaust & tune, just not sure on 2 1/2 or 3inch. Get a price for tune & exhaust this week. Fitting the ramjet otr sunday so see what diff that makes. Was goin 2 go xforce exhaust but seems very mixed feeling on them.

    I wouldnt touch Chev's with a 10 foot pole.

Gary is arrogant and looks to rip off whoever he can, whenever he can. He doesnt finish jobs on time, or on quoted price. Numerous people who have taken their cars there have been burnt by him. I'd steer clear!

What would a xforce 2 1!/2 stainless cost installed or would I be best just going the Walky? Does the xforce drone?

Just keep in mind, 'quality' is subjective and different folks have different opinions on what sounds good to them.

Go and hear a few systems before you buy. Go for a ride in a car with the same exhaust or rough set ups that you want. Most good shops should be able to show you an example car.

You must have dealt with a different Gary to me then. He has been one of the most helpful and friendly mechanics I've ever dealt with.

    [update - 10/02/2012]
No longer going to recommend them after being charged for O2 sensors after they broke (damaged the threads) them changing exhausts. $408 later after swapping exhausts and replacing 02 sensors they broke

Spoke 2 horsepower factory 2day. They should there 2.5" system on the car will sound really good with less drone than the walky exhaust due to them having larger mufflers. Anyone had there system on?
