Hey donthree,
Sorry but I have no idea at all about that particular unit. I did put an aftermarket h/u in my SV6 that has sat nav though. After much searching and some trial I couldn't find a nice easy place to tap into the vehicle speed sensor. I think I found the sensor & colour wire inside the gearbox, but.... Anyway the only advice the one guy at Holden could give me was a wire that runs along the rear axle from the wheel sensor. I couldn't be arsed running a wire from there, so I've left it unconnected. It really isn't an issue as your nav should still work. It might not be quite as accurate if you don't have enough satellites (never bothered me) and won't track you through tunnels. Living in Brisbane (& hating Cambell's tunnels with tolls) I have no issues not having enough satellites. The only time I'd see it really being useful is if there's a turn-off in a tunnel you need, or a turn-off almost immediately after and before re-establishing a connection.
I'm guessing the speed pulse you want is converted to digital info into the canbus, unlike older models that took the pulse all the way to the speedo. Not sure where this is done, I hoped there was a pulse from the gearbox to the control module in the driver's side kick panel, but I couldn't find it. Please let me know if you find one other than the wire on top of the axle.![]()
