yes it could be that as its a common problem and I had the same issue with knock and replaced the mounts and bearing with similar to these (NOLATHANE STRUT MOUNTS FOR VU V2 WH MONARO VE WM HSV | eBay) and issue resolved.

no warranty for me as its was deemed "fair wear and tear".

Nice how they write escape clauses like Wear and Tear into the warranty lol. So they give you a 100000 k warranty, then pick and choose what they will actually cover ? Interesting.
The trouble seems to be due to these rubber mounts being fluid filled, so there is less rubber in these things to take the force of the bumps and they crap themselves in no time. Its all about making the car feel as comfortable as possible so they sell more cars, even if they fall apart sooner because of it.
Find some heavy duty solid rubber ones and they will last double the time, but with a slightly bumpier ride. The warranty is obviously worth nothing anyway so it don't matter if you use holden spares or not from here on.

Pretty sure they arent fluid filled, never seen one leak.

We always replace under warranty, no wear and tear BS. Try another dealer if you get that treatment.
