I had an under drive kit fitted to the SS today..... now when i am driving, at times it seems to be idling a bit higher, especially as you pull up to a corner... you can feel it dropping back the gears a bit more, and driving along a flat road, it will do 50kph without touching the accelerator. But when you pull up, it drops back to normal idle. In park, it idles fine, doesn't hold revs when you tap the accelerator..... i asked the mechanic that fitted it for me, he seems to think it could be the ECU "relearning"
Having said that, it does seem to go better..... i took off hard today and it went sideways all the way through first gear easily*! (auto) and before the road nazis decide to jump down my throat, it wasn't on a public road! so keep your stupid comments to yourself. Might just be the placebo effect.... but it definitely does seem to rev out quicker.
Anybody else had any peculiar issues after fitting an under drive?
*keep in mind, it has extractors, full sports exhaust, CAI and retune.

- UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
- OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
- HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
- TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.
Agree re the reving out comment. As for the idle, the mech could well be right and it'll settle down, or maybe the tune needs a touch up. I had my U/D put on when the cam was done, thus my higher RPM's was due to removing some of the lump at idle. Maybe give it a few days and if not happy take her back for drive with the mech etc.
Front wheel drive cars are the work of the Devil.
i was just asking the wife if she noticed anything today... she said it felt ok. I'll take it out and give it a flogging tomorrow and see how it behaves

LOL @ ECU relearning after an underdrive pulley.
Id say its placebo mate. The underdrive does reduce load on the crank but not enough to be that noticeable.

he thought it may have been something to do with the speed of the alternator seeing as it's a variable output.
Indications are that it "should" deliver about 10rwkw and rev a little quicker. Even if it a bit of placebo effect.... that justifies the $350 i spent on it LOL It's going back on the dyno soon, that will tell if it made any difference at all.

I fitted one to mine and didnt notice any difference really. Didnt dyno before and after to confirm though.
