    Question VE Police Cars

I wonder which models in the VE range will be used as Police Cars?? Will they use the V8 SS for hwy patrol cars or the V8 SS-V Series?

id say the standard SS version will be used. Purely because the SS-V is full of optional extras they dont want/need.
All the cops want is a fast car that handles well, not one with leather seats, climate control, etc etc

    Omega, SV6 and SS then?

Interesting that they chose the SV6... is this common interstate? No SV6 cop cars here in SA that I have seen.

    People are forgeting unmarked cars...

Here in the ACT, there isn't a model in the VZ series I haven't seen as a Police car. Even an unmarked Caprice and quite a few unmarked Calais'.

The SV6 is VERY popular with the ACT Traffic Ops guys as an un-marked car.

    Here is my predicition:

Omega V6 - General Duties (marked and unmarked)
    SV6 - Unmarked Traffic Duties / Unmarked Detectives / Seargent's (unmarked)
SS - Fully marked and high visibility cars for traffic ops and hwy patrol.
SSV, Berlina, Calais & CalaisV Unmarked - all duties (incl. dignantary [sp?] escort cars).

There won't be a VE the police won't have. Hell, they drive so many vehicles these days, Volkswagens, Mitsubish 380s, Volvos, Nissan X-Trails, Subarus, Mini Coopers, Ford Territorys, the whole Falcon line up, the list goes on!...

I dont think we are 'forgetting' the unmarked cars as such... its just we dont care about them.

The question was aimed at marked/actual cop cars. Not unmarked cop cars.

A cop car is a cop car whether it be marked or unmarked. And the answer to your question is yes, SV6 cop cars are fairly abundant.

Yup standard FE2 suspension. The amount of sh*t they carry around in the back of those things is amazing. When I was in the Fire Brigade we used to work with the Police a lot and the boots are ALWAYS full.

took me off guard when i saw a dark blue SV6 VZ unmarked and pulled up with some poor sucker, i've been pinged by a VZ exec unmarked, white.

be interesting when they get the VE's in marked and unmarked, i get the feeling the police would be having a feild day. but yeah i've seen three black magna 380's and a black VZ suit up for possibly a raid. dont think i've exited a carpark so slowly.

There is a SV6 marked car here is SA, it was donated by Holden to trail the new decals/striping/badges for the VE. It looks HOT but most people will never see it as it just seems to sit down at Pixcars and it's NOT going to be a general patrol car.

Just the basic VE's are going to be patrols and roumer is they are due out in mid-late Oct so keep your eyes peeled!!!

No, they have first aid and safety equipment mainly, i also think they have 'stop strips' in all carrs mounted in the boot, maybe only the highway ones, not sure.
