Thanks for the feedback on SV6 vs SV6, what about Omega vs the VZ SV6? There's a big gap with price on ve sv6 and vz sv6, how about comparing the Omega with a vz SV6, price gap isn't as wide.
how about you do your own research?
There are dozens of magazines out there with VE info, hell, wheels has a VE special, 140 odd pages of just VE information.
If you're that keen on buying the car you'd know the features of the car you're looking at, not just trusting the word of an internet forum.
P.S - VE will still win
Suggest you go drive them both, or as maxy suggested, go grab the latest copy of wheels that features the entire VE range.
The VE Omega will come out on top in every area... BUT it is stuck with the stocko kit which isnt as flattering.
Its still a quick car compared to the Executives of recent years, but its less powerful than a VZ SV6 and it only has a 4 speed auto.
Personally, I'd take the VE Omega.
The first thing is that the VZ SV6 has a bodykit, alloys and wing. Otherwise there pretty much the same except the new design.
I'll choose the Omega, the VE's balance is super......
Hahaha...I cant wait for the next idiot that wants to line up a VE to overtake me on my left hand side in the left hand must merge right lane... I've compared the new VE with my VS and those omega's are slow !!! where's the 10 years of extra technology gone ??? Bring on a Sv6...LOL ! they still lack 30 Nm of torque compared to a stock L67....they maybe have more power @195 KW but torque is acceleration !

SV6 pulled 6.8 seconds 0-100... Like to see a stock VS Calais L67 do that. Thats faster than a VS SS, by half a second.
They may not have the torque of the L67 in terms of max torque, but they are alot torquier alot earlier... And they have better power and torque curves.... 32% wider than the L67's torque curve i believe (90% max torque i mean here).

Why'd you choose the VS SS as a benchmark ?
Not sure where you're getting info from but the last time I did a 1/4 mile calculation between a VSCL67 and VSSS, the VSCL67 would win by a few tenths... 15.59 vs 15.89
The VSSS is 118 Kg heavier than the VSCL67 that's like an extra person in the car....granted the SS has an extra 25 Nm but it's heavier weight will negate most of the benefit of it.
A $120 upgrade will get the VSCL67 into the 14's...that's budget horsepower !... I don't need to spend mega$$$ on the fugly new VE to get any thrills thats for sure !![]()

But how is it impressive? Sorry i hate the VE as many know, but the setup of the 6 is brilliant, low torque range gives it a great kickstart off the line, the higher rev range and lower torque isn't that noticeable. I would much prefer as much as i disliek them to own a VE over an old floating coffin like a VS.

Impressive ??? name another car and mod you can do for $120 that will gain a sec of performance on the 1/4 mile and keep up with cars whose engines are nearly 2 Litres greater in capacity with an extra 2 cylinders ???...That's like throwing $120 at your SS and keeping up with a v10 Viper !!!
minux I kinda like my "floating coffin VS"... with the state some of our roads are in the closer you are to driving a boat the better... maybe thats why Ford sell as many cars as they do ?

i like my soft suspension, that way i dont feel the little things on the road, makes calm driving that much more relaxed.
between a omega and a SV6 i'll side with the omega, purely because i would almost kill to take one even for a good week's use. at first i took the VE for an over glorified astra but when i got up close an personal with an omega i was impressed, save for the wheels ( the hub caps are CRYING to be replaced ) i've gown quite happy with the overall design and asthetics.
i do like the VE steering wheel ( just that bit more than the VZ ones which are simplistic sex )

Hi all new to the forum but while we're on the subject of fitting SS/SV6 bodykit to an Omega, I'm having ridiculous difficulties getting Holden dealers to do this. Having read this forum, some people seem to have done it and is not a hard job to do. I'm about to buy a new car and want this done but no one can do it. Am I just dealing with a whole bunch of idiotic Holden dealers who know nothing about cars? Cheers fellas.
Not sure its the right thread QCBrooks, but i am currently fitting the kit to my Omega. Its an easy job, i don't know why you would get Holden to do this. As long as you can get access to the bumpers and sides its fairly straightforward. Let me know if you need any help.
Cheers,
Dave
