Unhappy VE SV6 Boot Problem

Just wondering if it is normal for the boot NOT to raise itself once opened. I thought the struts would take over once you gave the boot a little nudge to open! Being an SV6, I thought maybe the spoiler does not allow the struts to automatically lift the boot due to its weight. Do other VE SV6/SS owners have this problem? By the way my boot buzzes when I open it, but Holden needs to order a part in. Any advice would be appreciated.

This isn't America! lol

The boot unlocks but doesn't open. Personally I don't know why anyone likes those spring loaded boots.

does the boot actually stay open by itself once its at its maxium extension?,

as you lower it is there tension or does it move very freely?

Is it just me or are some questions on here just plain stupid?

YES the boot stays open once you open it.

As for tension in my boot when I lower it, I don't know... Never felt it up or anything. Maybe I'll send it for a massage! I just know when I close it, it doesn't slam like a Ford's boot does.

The boot stays open. I went to my holden dealer and he advised that the weight of the spoiler stops it from springing on its own. The omega springs open if no spoiler is fitted. I'm satisfied now. Thanks for your responses. PS: Can't wait to get the buzzing clicking sound fixed when I unlock it. Cheers!

That's bullsh*t! lol I have had a VE without spoiler and now have one with. NO VE boot "springs open" on its own. They simply unlock and unlatch. Like I said, we don't have American spring loaded sh*t here.

CSP, I saw it with my own eyes! The dealer unlocked the boot and gently lifted the boot @ 1/4 way and the rest went on its own very slowly. When he showed me a new SS, he had to lift manually all the way. Both cars were new stock.

From your other posts mate, you made it sound like the boots without spoilers popped open all the way on their own!

As I said, I have had both a VE with a spoiler and without. Of course the one with the spoiler is heavier, but once I open it to a certain point it will go the rest of the way on its own just like a boot without a spoiler.

What the hell is the point of this thread anyway? I still don't get it.

I don't get it either.

Also long as you can lift with relative ease it should not be a problem. Or you must very weak!

By the way I hate bootlids that lift up by themselves once you unlock it.

I agree with CSP, its a boot... open it with your arms.
I press the boot button on my sv6, it unlatches and i lift it the rest of the way. Its not a particularly hard task to complete.

My parents have an Aurion and it has one of those stupid spring loaded boots and they are annoying becuase the lifters make it difficult to close if you just push it unlike the VEs where you just drop the boot once its almost down and it closes with no effort and not loud clunk like most other cars.

This thread is now resolved! All I asked is whether it is normal for the boot not to raise by itself once opened (I should have clarified 'unlocked'). I now know that it's normal. Thankyou to those that responded. Cheers.

It might just be me, but it seems you need to ease up and not resort to your 'scotty' days. You're jumping down peoples throats and its making the threads alot more confusing than they need to be.
