Default Problems with LCD screen

I've started having problems with the colour LCD display in my Calais. It used to freeze up on me if I started the car before waiting for the system check to finish, but now, even if I do that, sometimes it blacks out then comes back frozen up.

Anyone had this issue?

Some people I have heard have. Known Holden problem. Screen can be replaced under warranty... No biggy, just the inconvenience.

You know it's wierd but when this happens I'm sure I can hear a relay clicking type of noise come from under the dash.

Holden have recently brought out a recall for the SIC (secondary information center) about them freezing up, it will depend on whether your car is in the affected range but being a VE it can be replaced under warranty.
Can also reset the SIC by removing fuse F7 for about 30seconds, fuses are located in the LHF kick panel.

Thanks for that info, knowing there's a recall or rework available is handy in-case my local dealer isn't on the ball.

I've noticed it only happens if I start my car before system check is complete, and I have been resetting it by turning the car off, opening the door, closing the door and restarting the car.

It's booked in this week for a look so fingers crossed they know about the issue and sort it.

I've heard there's a lot of people that turn the ignition to ON and let the system check finish before starting. I have to say, that causes more problems that it solved. If I do that, I get "Check ABS", "ESP Off" both flashing up and sometimes staying on.

When I start mine, I turn the key pretty fast and all the way to START straight away. No problems

It's funny, because I used to also get those ESP/ABS alarms on startup, especially if I waited for system check to complete, but since Holden replaced my battery and reprogrammed the charge rate etc, those errors have stopped happening thank god.

It really is a can of worms this particular fault, but I hope after my visit next week they can replace the screen and bluetooth modules so they function ok no matter when the car is started..

Got car back from Holden today, no fault found. But now my stereo forgets my favourite display mode setting every time it turns off/on. :-(

Hi Supe,

Usual story. Intermittent = no fault found.

I've got issues on my dash LCD where I start it up and it says "Error: Engine at red line" when it's idling.

This is the 3rd dealer

- Preston Motors South City (bought it there)
- Barloworld
- Garry and Warren Smith

Total time off the road has been over 2 working weeks (1 year old vehicle).

Unfortunately I'm too busy to continue begging shonky holden service centres to fix the fault. It doesn't happen too often, it's just annoying on a top of the range car (along with the current outstanding problems).
