Rotor problem in SS !
hi
I started hearing sounds from the brake (squeeking)
I took the car to the dealership and they told me that my pads are good but
the rotor is not !!
this is the first time I hear about somthing like this ! rotor before the pad ?
I drive for 50 km in heavy traffic and 50 km in a highway everyday (speed 160-200km)
So I dicided to change the rotors with high preformance ones
I found a DBA Rotors, are they any good ? or you know somthing better ?

AP Racing... It's what I'd put on a VE SS or SSV if I had one.

nup dont accept that i think warrenty covers brakes upto 30,000 or something,
there is no way rotors can be made defective for that many kms under normal conditions, of corse heavy towing down hills etc can warp disc, warpage is machinable

I havn't had any warping "yet" however i will say that the standard brakes on the SS are terrible.
They are very unstable - I find sometime it feels like your trying to force your foot through the firewall and nothing is happening - other times you give the slightest tap and ABS will kick in. They are very unpredicatble.
I'm going to look into a new brake package soon.

should get holden to check that out, all the ves ive driven have all felt fine, with the engine not running pump up the brake pedal till its hard, then push on the pedal is there much travel, does your foot continue to sink to the floor?

Pedal is hard with minimal travel, and stays that way till the engine is on - sounds like a working hydrolic system to me.

sounds odd..the only way the rotors will b stuffed is if they got hot and then got a sudden amount of water on them causing warping.
the warranty on them is sketchy as its what is classed as a "consumable item"
so if the dealer is nice they will do it but most will not touch it unless ur paying for it.

definately a hydraulic issue.
its either low fluid or a component has failed.
AP Racing brakes to fit the VE SS/SSV are the go but do cost a fair amount of money.
for everyday duties some DBA rotors and some decent pads will do.
for someone that uses the car in anger, tracks, wants the braking performance etc the APs are by far one of the best upgrades.
coming from a VXII R8 with cross drilled rotors and 4pot front 2 pot rears the standard SSV brakes are useless.
so these went on!

Harrop dont have any for the VE yet
the only other real competitors for the APs were the Orrcon Brakes like they use in the V8s but they were $8K plus brand new
my brakes RRP are $7200 for front 2piece rotors, rear rotors 6pot front caliper, 4pot rears, braided lines, mounting blocks, fluid, etc....
i got them second hand off a mate in melbourne that took them off his SSV as he was going back to stock to sell it...cost me $5K with 90%pad still left, never used on track or in anger...although that isnt the case anymore

the problem is that the dealer won't install them.

but the shipping well break my back, the brakes are too heavy
