New VE for me!
My parents, actually. Brand new VE Berlina. Mum reckons it looks like a tank, but meh. Either way, looking forward to going home from uni this afternoon and seeing it!
Just a shame that knowing my parents, by the time I get to drive any VE, they'll all be old and crappy and driven by bogans lol....

Well we've had the VE for a week, so I just thought I'd post my impressions of it.
Personally, I'm very impressed. The car has a much better "feel" to it than the VT - VZ, even just little things, like the way doors open and close, much the same as how the VT had a nicer "feel" to it than the VN - VS. I haven't sat in the back yet, but the interior seems more roomy than the VZ. Got to take it out for a bit of a spin, too. Even though I've only taken it around the block a couple of times, it still drives bloody beautifully. I'm counting on Dad letting me take it out on the highway in a couple of weeks...can't wait. I've driven the VZ on the highway, and it handled bloody beautifully, so I can only imagine the VE being even better.
All in all, i'm very impressed. Only real bad points are:
a) Its white (i'm sorry, but i find white cars boring )
b) It has a huge ass bullbar on the front that looks like it belongs more on a Hummer than a Berlina
c) Its not mine

Um, I'm on my opens, actually. Only reason I was having driving lessons last year was because my parents wouldn't let me touch either the VZ or the WB, and I only had auto P's, so I couldn't touch the Hilux (which is a manual). No, the Hilux hasn't been retired - my parents will probably have it until either it drops dead or they do (which is far more likely, considering it is a Hilux after all, and therefore tough as nails)
As for my car (or lack of) - basically, I drive an 18 speed Speedwell Bushranger. And I catch the bus into town every day for uni With no real job (or any way to get one until i get my degree hopefully next year), thats about all I can afford, too.

How come you can't get a job before you get your degree ?
Not having a go at you, and not knowing your situation, I'm just curious.

Because I live in a hick town near a ****hole called "Bundaberg", where IT jobs only come up once in a blue moon, and mostly only go to someone who knows someone.
I'm sorry - I'm just not that much of an advocate of my local area! Rather be somewhere decent, such as Rockhampton, Brisbane, Sydney, or even Maryborough, lol.

LOL!!! I love it when people say they can't get a job because there's nothing they WANT to do.
I have never been unemployed... There's always work around if you're willing to do it. In between IT jobs I once worked as a labourer for a fencer. Then between the RAAF and getting back into IT I worked as a Shell Servo Console Operator for 6 months.
You just have to want to WORK, not want to do a specific job.

Degrading, but pays the bills (whilst you're a student).

So goVZ, just correct me if im wrong, you live in country QLD where im sure if you want a job there are plenty. Your parents wont let you drive an old car because you were lazy and got an auto licence. And you dont have a job because you are "finishing" you degree... well good on you sounds like you're living it up!!
IT isn't hard to get into, work in a call centre taking abuse from people every day, its a foot in the door and the money isnt that bad. Or like the other guys have said work in a supermarket stacking shelves. In the end its money and may get you a car...
