VE Build Date issue

After reading a couple of threads tonight, I became curious with build dates. Consequently, I checked my SV6 and got a nice surprise! The sticker on the B pillar (left side) has a date of 09 Jan 2008, however the ID plate under the bonnet has a build date of DEC 2007. I bought the car new on 4 Feb 2008. Does anyone else have a VE built around the same time that has the same issue?

So theres 2 different build dates for the same car? Are the vin numbers different?

There's a big difference between the build date and the Model Year.

I'd say you have one of the first MY09 models built.

They can be very different. Some cars sat for months before gaining a compliance plate

here is some dates and serial numbers

28/7/06 = 853883
8/8/06 = 856743
31/8/06 = 866707
4/9/06 = 862327
19/9/06 = 862782

So most will be in order - but not all

I did more research on this issue. All my previous Commodores from VN, VS, & VX had the build date month matching the compliance date month. eg. VN 5th Sep 1991 - BUILD date Sep 91, VS 12 Nov 96 BUILD date Nov 96, VX 4th Sep 02 - BUILD date Sep 02. I also checked a few Commodores in the dealership yard and they all had matching months ie. compliance month matching build month on ID plate. I spoke to Holden and was advised that my car started production on 14 Dec 07 and due to the Xmas break, it not get released (quality check etc) until 9 Jan 08. It was released to the dealership on 14 Jan 08. Based on all the cars I owned and the others I checked, my SV6 should have an ID plate dated JAN 2008, but for some reason got a DEC 2007 ID plate! By the way, it is definately MY08 and all VIN numbers match. I am more curious now to find out if there are any other VE owners that have a DEC 07 or JAN 08 build car that may have the same scenario. If some of you check your own VE's or even previous models, you will probably find that your compliance month will match the build date on the ID. Let me know for those that check their cars please. I have a VE SV6 and I have got a DEC 07 build plate with a JAN 08 compliance plate. Dealers problem, contract stated it was to be a JAN 08 build. Anyway thats a differet story.

Exactly like my issue! My compliance date is 9 Jan 08. Can I ask what your compliance date is? Apparently, there was a whole batch of commodores with a build date of DEC 2007 and a compliance date early Jan 2008. As I stated earlier, the compliance month normally matches the ID build month.

my vn has similar to this....one says it was built in 88 the other says its a 89 modal lol (and the car hasn't been dodged up either) think its just something holden and most other car dealers does....

Just checked mine and mine says 9/1/08 compliance as well

Hmmm! It would be interesting to see if anyone has a build date of Jan 2008, and see what their compliance date is. By the way, a mate of mine has a VE SS with a compliance date of 5 Feb 08 and the ID plate states FEB 2008 build. I guess Holden were right regarding the xmas break which caused the mismatch between our compliance and build months!

i checked mine this morning, the compliance plate in the engine bay says jan. 2008 build, sticker on passenger b pillar says build date 15/1/2008. the build # on said sticker is the same as what is on the metal plate on the window.

Thanks for that info Trosal. At least you wont have any hassles when you sell your car and state its a 2008 build!
