No, it won't void your warranty. The only issue you will have is if the exhaust causes something else to fail/malfunction. If that happens, it won't be covered under warranty.
Where abouts are you?

That makes it easier...what's your budget? It comes down to what you expect and how much you are willing to pay. The VE isn't as straight forward as the earlier Commodores.

I can get back to you tomorrow. There are different options available, I will have to check pricing with my suppliers.

Mate if your in Perth I recomend APC on newcastle street just round the corner from City Motors... My VE Clubby is there rite now gettin engine work and a full custom exhaust system put on.. altho I'm spending over $7,700.00 coz I'm going ceramic coated and stainless steel etc... But if you go there ask for Jim and you tell him exactly what you want and what you have to spend and he'll do it.. explain what sort of sound you want and he will tweak it to sound exactly like you want http://www.apcenhancements.com.au/

I got same car as u mate ve ss mine is manual dunno if urs is?
I got dual 3" xforce system off ebay.
Its sounds nice and isnt to loud at all. if catback is all u want go 3"
Im just about to put pacys and cats on so that will make it louder.
If u wanna do the hole exhaust and dont want it to loud get the dual 2 1/2"

Two options, one is a Pacemaker twin 2 1/2" stainless steel system $1350. The other is a Manta twin 2 1/2" mild steel system $950. A twin 3" is $1120.

I made up new rear mufflers and pipes for under $200. 1 x 180 degree mandrel bend, cut in halves to make 2 x 90 degrees, a couple of flanges, short length of pipe, and two x 2 1/2 in 3 1/2 out stainless cannons. Louder without being over the top.
Check out my earlier posting here:
Tough sounding exhaust on SS for under $200
