Default Best OTR for ve alloytec?

With Castle Hill Exhaust releasing their own OTR and Russo performance about to release theirs i am wondering which style is more practical as Russo's sits kind of infront of the radiator?
I am leaning towards the Russo performance style but i am wondering about water accessing the engine as it sits infront of the radiator.
I am open to any opinions that you guys might have.

Here are the pics of the two different OTR's
First one being Russo's then followed by CHE

I really do think that these OTR kits are a waste of money. Sure the manufacturer might claim an extra 15Kw and reduced fuel consumption but you'll never see that in real world driving.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

Sure they are nothing drastic but i am mainly looking at the induction growl and if any fuel savings but not relying on any savings. I just want to know the best OTR out at the moment as i could go for a pod setup but have my doubts as intake temperatures might be higher compared to a OTR.

intake temp is much higher with a POD setup, and although the OTR wont show gains of 15rwkw etc, you will get much better throttle response and a few kw at the treads. The LSx and l98 have all shown around 8-12krwkw on the dyno with an otr and tune to match) compared to a tune on the Standard box. But its the response and the few extra tenths down the 1/4 that make it worth it.
It be interested to see how each of these go.

Also just to add, the russo style ones apparently have much better throttle response than the CHE style ones. Oh and in the pic of the CHE its mounted to a v8, not a alloytec. Just though id point that out

that first pick will pick up every drop of rain where it is situayed, i cant imagine that would be good for the airfilter,

id say it would get a little damp. But no more than any other open element filter would. I think most K&N or similar oils are water retarding to an extent arnt they?

I am not sure either but that would be the million dollar question is if it can keep water out of there?

Once it does come out i will definately be going into Russo Performance as it is only 15 minutes from where i live and have a chat to them and see what they say about the water issue.

in pic 2, it looks like there is a massive kink in the radiator hose, how does that go under pressure? Also how does it go with the install of the OTR, the stock tune and the warranty?

yeah the top radiator hose kinks a bit when you lay the radiator back. all i can say is my running temp hasn't changed. russo ran the otr on there test car for 1 month before release and Justin advised me they had no issues with it. my cars 1 year old in april this year so i'll be changing the coolent then anyway so i plan to buy a new top rad hose and trim 5mm off each end that should reduce the kink. i'll also use proper clamps.

my car has the stock tune, it's an my09 model so it can't be tuned yet. so was russos test car so there are no issues with the stock tune.

warranty? you'd best speak to your dealer about that different dealers have different ideas. for instance when i started getting clutch issues i went to the dealer i bought the car from they went off over the extractors claiming i had abused the clutch. went 20km down the road to another dealer they looked at the cltuch changed the fluid bleed it and never said anything about any of it just said come back if you still have problems.

i ended up just replacing the factory clutch with a good one anyway. i probably have no warranty anyway i service the car myself. it's pretty modded. but that said if you have an issue just put your stock airbox back on and then go see them.

Ah well, **** the warrantee off and just service it where its cheap lol.

Oh one question, whats the little hose on the passenger side of the air box? im assuming its Air intake temp?

Haha, same with my warranty. Is that even legal for them to do that? Surely if the car is serviced at a reputable dealer, or another Holden dealer you would think it would be fine, sucks if you move, then its goodbye warranty

Mate have a look at the W427 HSV look at the design of the otr that HSV used on that. it looks exactly like the Russo otr what does that tell you. the russo alloytec otr is the same design as the v8 one which they have been using since 2006 on VE's. not to mention that the fastest n/a v8's all use russo otrs.

    they obviously don't work eay.

not only do you need to move the radiator back (which i expected) but he tells you to cut the maf sensor, then drill holes in it. bull shit if im going to do that. Mafs are sensitive as hell. Iv emailed him and told him i want a refund or alternate instructions. If i get nothing back then ill try to re-install it by modifying the OTR instead of the maf. Or ill just tell paypal i want my money back.
