New Calais driver - some ???s

Ok, so i got my new (2006) Calais and I have some questions for the experts:

1. How do you stop the friggin arm rest from sliding..?? I am used to putting my hand on the arm rest as I get into the car and keep sliding into the gear knob.

2. Is there a way to keep the Sports Trans on.??? I think I prefer the extra pickup you get with the S/T but when you turn off the car it goes back to Normal Trans.

3. Is the engine supposed to sound like a diesel..?? It seems very noisy, especially when I put the foot down.

Apart from that it is a very comfortable ride. Two thumbs up

Hi mate my guess is you are running a 195kw alloytec. Can i ask how do you keep the sport trans on if you have to put it in normal transmission to get the thing into park or reverse? Or do you have a four speed where you dont have the + and - . If you have this gearbox you cannot keep it in sports mode it has to be pressed every time just like the esp if you want it off.

195kw alloytec sounds great all i did was put some hsv rear mufflers and i have two great sounds now instead if it just being the engine. Some part of the noise can also be blamed on the plastic boot as it doesnt absorb any sound so exhaust sound comes through heaps louder inside the cabin.
