Painting Calipers..

Hey Guys just got the GTS rims on my VE and there is alot of space in the wheels lol and i was just wondering if anyone has painted there calipers on there VE and if it was easy or not, or if they know of a good place to go get em done in S.A...

Painting Brake Callipers

its easy, it just takes time and patience! you can do them yourself if you have a day to spare

Don't cut corners and try and do them on the car:
- Remove wheels,
- Remove brake lines off calipers, (put a small plastic bag around end and seal tight with a cable tie - then put a container under this on ground to catch fluid).
- Remove calipers
- Pull apart calipers, removing pads, spring clips, slide assembly
- Roll back rubbers from slide shafts and unbolt and remove shaft. (Make sure you regrease these with high temp grease when you refit them)
- Label back of pads with lead pencil (i.e. Drivers side front inner)
- Dont remove cylinder - tape up carefully around rubber seal with masking tape
- Find some small rubber plugs to block off where brake lines are fitted
- Remove rubber caps off bleed nipples, and tape over nipples with masking tape.
- Scrub down parts with bristle brush and degreaser
- Wipe down with prepsol or wax remover
- Hang up somewhere and spray paint with VHT Caliper paint
- Give them several thin coats
- Allow to dry for at least a few hours
- Assemble carefully
- Refit to car
- Refit brake lines
- Bleed brakes (You'll need at elast 2 bottles of brake fluid)
-BE CAREFULL NOT TO SPILL BRAKE FLUID ON THEM, AND BE READY WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER TO RINSE IF YOU DO - PAIN IS NOT CHEMICAL RESISTANT UNTIL IT HAS BEEN CURED AT HIGH TEMP.

Oh - one last type... see if you can get the old series VHT - with a blood red cap... new stuff is crap orangy colour and not as good.... you can tell cos the cap on the new stuff is bright red.
