Was pulling roughly 160rwkw's and 380rwnm on a mainline dyno before the pulley kit from mace and highflow cats! Was tested on a 35* day, so hoping a cold day with everything else constant I'd be able to pull closer to 170rwkw, but thats probably wishful thinking. With the S/C hoping to get close to 250rwkw!
Mods to come:
MACE-CAMS, CPR6 or port match/modify existing manifold, clutch (if needed?), better brake pads/fluid, car lights-HIDS/LEDS or angel kit? Powdercoating rims gloss white?

looks good don't know about the green calipers though.
fair enough, two fav colours are green and blue, so trying to keep it themed that way (apart from the white decals), was thinking of maybe painting the holden badges green, or getting chev badges and greening em up.
Love the idea of painted badges, i just painted my chev badges. I reckon go blue chev badges (match it to the car colour)... Ive seen a few lions painted black that looked nice...
Its your car hey, but I also think blue/green dont mix, sorry!
And yeah supersport 20s are awesome
A note because ive just painted mine, painting that lion badge would suck arse getting paint to stick properly in all the complicated crevices, chev badges were enough of a pain
ok man cheers, I get ya!!!
Yeh I think ill ditch the holden badge on the front and either get a chev badge or just a plain honeycomb badge and put a chev decal on it. Saw a few awhile ago on ls1, looks mint as.
Also whats wrong with green and blue? They are both cold colours... i like it solol
cheers for the opinion man, i think ill need to find someone to do me a photoshop before deciding!
loving this car! keep up the good work![]()
each to their own, but i hate seeing v6s with chev badges
well its a GM engine, and its sold as chevs in other countries, not really that bad if you ask me.
Nice sv6, love the colour.
First of all keep the holden badges, in Australia its a HOLDEN.
Maybe pick another colour for the brake calipers, IMO green doesnt seem to suit the car.
Supersports were a good move they look a lot better.
last of all, get rid of those stickers haha
damn these cars look tuff
nice ride ya got there mate
Cheers guys!!
Yeh im keeping the badges I decided, except the front dinner plate im changing to something abit sexier. Not chev though.
I know what ur saying with the green, but i love it, in the flesh it looks alot better, considering im on my green p's it matches I reckon.
Stickers STAY!! Metal is a large part of my life, haha, love it, its unique, dont see any cars driving around with maiden and opeth stickers haha
cheers though dude
Just thought id share some experience ive had with extractors and the exhaust in general.
Being a dual exhaust, there are two seperate headers. I went with pacemaker, as HM headers were to slow in bringing out a set for the SV6.
I was planning on just putting in the pacemaker headers without a coating or heatwrap. After reading up alittle bit I decided to go heatwrap... then abit more googling and talking to mates, I went with a coated header. As heatwrap tends to hold moisture around the header, making it rust easier have a shorter lifespan.
I was quoted $700 at most exhaust places to install non coated headers, then another $300 if I wanted them coated. So $1000 all up. $500 for headers, $200 for fitting. Then another $100 to remove hotdog/crimp section.
I thought bugger that, looked on ebay, called up the ebay sellers selling em (listed $470 on ebay) and they told me $420 pickup from their shop. But went direct to pacemaker distributer in dandy south and picked em up for $400! Which I thought was great. It was $270 coated from pacemaker instead of $300, but I had to wait two weeks. Didn't want to wait, so bought em and took it to JET-HOT coatings in castlemaine. They quoted me $255 coated, but raised it to $265 because there were two seperate headers. I went with the usual STERLINE coating, as I didn't need the higher spec ones.
It was ready after three days, picked them up and took it to an exhaust bloke who quoted me $180 to fit the headers AND cut the crimp/hotdog section out of my exhaust and replace with stainless steel.
Took it to his shop, instead of cost $200
All up, $865 instead of $1100. Would have saved $200 if I did the work myself, but don't have the tools.
This is a picture of the crimp/hotdogs I had removed.
And the stock manifold
Now, after having it fitted for a few days, here are the results from what I can tell.
Fuel economy is down from around 0.5l-1.0l. I travel to Kyneton alot (Calder on the way to bendigo) from berwick (south east burbs) and normally avergae 8.3l/100km. After leaving melbourne the speed limit is 110km to kyneton, with alot of big hills, and inclines. I sometimes sit higher then said limit though shh.
Since ive had the headers, ive averaged 7.7l and 7.3l. Impressed. Also, on some big hills with cruise control on i used to have to change down to 5th gear.
As far as power goes, she revs easier, and is a definite increase in power, not sure how much, probably 3-5rwkw. The torque increase is noticable, but again, can only guess.
However, the down side is, the headers appeared to have made my car slightly quiter, the crimp/hotdogs have helped, purrs a tad more, but isnt as snarly as it used to be. So I need ideas to make it sound better. I was planning on getting 100cpsi cats by the end of the month, hopefully this will help.
I utilised the stock heatshield off the stock manifolds to help keep my Cold air induction pipe a tad cooler. Heatsoak from the radiator tends to turn my car into abit of a slug on warmer days, specially with A/C. It's a quick fix till I get a better CAI or OTR. On saturday i drove around for 50minutes, and the pipe was slightly warm, instead of really hot. So it worked.
Hope this helps people looking at doing the same mods.
Verdict: worth it, get coated headers, better fuel economy, more usable power, sounds quiter, less snarly, purrrs more.

hows the note with the system you've put in ? and what actually do you have for it ? trying to get some first hand research before i take the leap![]()
All ive done, is replace crimp/hotdogs with straight through pipe, headers installed and a muffler swap.
Sounds alright, the headers will make it slightly quiteter. So im hoping cats will make it louder.
How much louder is it than stock and roughly how much did you pay for the di flip muffler, if you don't mind me asking

since then my exhaust has settled in abit more, and is sounding better! I would say its at least 2-3 times louder when under full acceleration, on idle is the same. It's not too loud that you will attract unwanted attention, but when u want to be heard$700
arh cool cool, pretty much what i was after. Going to start getting some quotes tomorrow most likely. How come there was such a wait from pacemakers coating the headers? And what places gave you the best quotes ? Going to try a few places around Bayswater and mayb dandenong seems i work out there a bit
I'm not sure why, but I didn't want to wait either way, I think they get coated in south australia or something. Anyway, i got them from Pacemaker in dandy, much cheaper then the shops, they dont normally sell them to the public, so just say you're mate is installing them or something and they'll stop being annoing.

The best quote I got was from Jet-Hot in castlemaine, near bendigo, cost me $265 I think, but if you can pacemaker would be easier if you want to wait, they said only $270 I think. Also, as far as the diffilipo mufflers, redback would be much better bang for buck, as the only reason mine were so cheap was coz he stuffed up the order, so I got stainless a tad cheaper.
Nice mate. Looks awesome.Iron maiden sticker looks the goods as well.
In the next few weeks im looking at getting some pacemaker headers and redback mufflers. Was just wondering what cutting the crimp/hotdog section out does? Seen that a few people have done it.
It makes it abit more burbly, I think it helps low down torque as well, makes your system abit less restrictive, so a tad better fuel gains, give the headers and mufflers a go, and if you dont like it maybe try that, some people put in a merge, but i dont know what benefits that would give ya.
Otherwise cheers mate, post some when ur done!
Might have to get that done as well. They just replace with 2.25inch pipe?
When i get some more mods done to my car will post one for sure. Atm its basically stock.
yeah mate, 2.25inch, I got it in stainless, if your not careful the shop you go to will sting ya for it, so try supplying it yourself, a stock VE exhaust will do off ebay
They are a retailer, they sell to exhaust shops and the like. They don't fit it themselves, why I took it to a workshop and had it done for me. It will work out cheaper that way, as normally the exhaust shop makes a profit off the headers, I was quoted $500 for headers, then $200 installed.
