Stone's 06 VE V8 Calais-V

Thought I might as well chuck this up...

I bought it already lowered and tinted which were both things I was going to do anyway. It came with GTS copies which the rears had been painted silver to match the car and the fronts had been machined to fit earlier model Commodores so couldn't be balanced properly, so I bought genuine ones. I also put a KPM cat-back 2.5" system on it.

Mods to come:
- Pacemaker 1 3/4" 4-to-1's waiting to be fitted
- Ballistic 3" to 2.5" cats waiting to be fitted
- 3.45 diff... Trying to find one before Saturday as car was booked into just have 2.92 LSD put in.
- Duspeed or KPM OTR... Yet to decide
- A very mild cam, still researching
- MAFless tune once it's all being fitted

Once the diff is in I'll go have a chat to Chev and get the cam, OTR, extractors and cats all done at once... Hopefully I stop the mods after that as it is costing a fortune!

I had the extractors, cats and OTR CAI fitted and a tune yesterday... Results below.

I'll have to make another exhaust video as it sounds quite different now with the extractors and cats

Are you getting any vibration through the cabin with the 1 3/4" headers? Whats the clearance like with the left cat to the body?

I'm having a few issues with my 1 3/4" Pacies. Chev is changing them to 1 7/8" this Friday.

I haven't noticed anything... What is the vibration like? Major? At idle? Driving? WOT?

I can't see under the car to check clearance of the cat, sorry.

I bought bare cats so they needed to make the piping and flanges so maybe the made sure the cats were nowhere that they could vibrate.

It's not major. It only happens at WOT from 3000rpm upwards.

Normal driving it's not an issue. If you have different cats Gary would've made sure you don't have any issues.

A couple of updates... Got a small 219/224 113LSA cam fitted. I went small because I do 100km a day and wanted to still be decent on fuel. I'm getting a fluttering noise like turbulence inside the exhaust so I need to sort that out and then I post up a proper video.

Here's a video of the exhaust the night before getting the cam fitted.
Cold start - Full exhaust, headers, cats, tune. I think I put the camera a bit close as it sounds funny.


And new Dyno sheet. Not big power gains but it's much more responsive and sounds better

I showed my tuner the fluttering noise this afternoon, he said he can adjust the tune tomorrow to try to eliminate it.

what a load of crap, why do they pick on loud cars??? 90+% of motorbikes are louder than cars, ive been next to harleys at a set of lights, and cant hear my car at all...and thats with headers, cats and a dual 3" exhaust.

hope it all works out
