    Default My Sandstorm Omega

    Hey Im Jack, Im 17 and this is my first post on JC, Ive been looking around for a while but only just got a car worth posting haha. This is my second car, my first was a dirty green VR... I just picked this up a few days ago and all Ive done so far is take off the mud flaps haha tomorrow Ill be taking off the hub caps and spraying the chasers gloss black, ordering sssl rear and ssl front springs and maybe a pod filter? One of the tail lights has a hole in it so I think Ill replace them with ss light and maybe get a sv6 kit? Anyway heres some pics with my shitty phone camera

    I removed my lion badge cause i think it's to big and ugly plus i'm trialing different badges.
    Alot of guys have painted them, obviously take it off first then get some more double sided tape, but black would look good with your black chasers.

    Looks like you got carried away with the debadging... where's your plates?

    Oh, depending what year your VE is (looks like an MY06 going by the door handles), you might find taking the lion off the boot will leave you with holes...

    Just a personal thing, but I'd never sell a newer car to get an older one. But as I said, just a personal thing!

    Personally mate, getting power on P plates doesn't work. well it does but not worth it. so just make her looking sexy. Then once your off your P's upgrade. unless your down grading so you have more money to spend on a cheaper car? like sell this for 13. buy a VS for say 6 then 7g for mods?

    Just my 2c.

    it will cost a lot.. DEFINITELY not worth it. You would be better off trading your car for a black one. As said, don't trade your car for an older one - unless you're talking about an old Jag, or a TVR Cerbera, or an Alfa Montreal, or a De Tomaso Pantera, or a Lotus Esprit V8, Or a Maserati Merak, Or a Lamborghini Muira, or some other classic... then it's not worth it. Make what you have look how you want it and make do until you can afford to trade UP!

    And lose the lion badge. If you're going to de-badge a car - get rid of all of them... looks much cleaner. But the car's looking good make. Keep with it.

    I agree with tinsnips, it's a big job to change the colour, just because they have to pretty much strip the car down to a shell (remove engine to respray inside the engine bay etc). I like the sandstorm anyway. It won't show little marks like black would, stone chips etc. also, keeping a black car clean is alot of work having said that, I love black cars, but I wouldn't change the colour of yours

    Hmm thanks I dont think Ill bother. Can some tell me whats going on when I hold it flat for a while it goes in to safe mode and says power reduced and just shuts off and I cant do anything its happend twice on the highway and is the most unsafe ####ing thing that has ever happend. Also is there any guides to change the strange as headunit on here? And is there any other restrictions I can turn off or take out to make it drive properly? Cheers.

    When you hold it flat? as in put your foot to the floor for a while? I'd start by not doing that. You're restricted to a low speed limit anyway and your car will hit that speed limit and then some very easily. The head unit will be a huge pain in the arse to change unless you run a complete new system with a new headunit mounted in the glovebox or something. Otherwise you'll need a new fascia, which I haven't seen any of anywhere. Run better speakers in all the doors. If you feel the need for subs you can run an amp using converters (into rca's) off the rear speaker wires. If you get caught having modified the engine whilst on your p's you'll be ####ed so I wouldn't bother with that. Spend your money on some wheels, nice stereo bits, maybe a second hand interior out of an ss or something.

    Yea mate you can't get rid of that headunit, it controls some of the cars secruity settings and is combined with the air conditioning.
    However is is easy enough to run a completely new headunit without touching the original one.
    You just have to run new leads from the battery and new wires to the speakers.
    The only trouble would be find a place to install the headunit itself, the most common is the glovebox but obviously there are some disadvantages in doing so.
