    Default Newbie!

Hey peeps, just bought myself a series 2 SV6 ute, thought I might join the forums. I've just sold my previous car, a pearl white golf vr6 modified to hell so it was a pleasant change to jump into a car with lots of cool gadgets and no worries!

Here's the ride...optioned up, it's got rear sensors, supersports, alloy pedals, mats, the silver centre console pack (amazing) and the expensive as hell flip key.

So it looks pretty clean there, but being a car detailer I was disgusted with the condition of a new car, so it's going back for a proper clean before I can go nuts with waxes and sealants and waterproof sprays and what-not.

Plans so far are small, because I enjoy it how it is. Window tinting, some sort of flat hardlid, and if I can somehow incorporate it, removable ladder racks for work ladders. Would like to get a small sub and perhaps a bit of speaker upgrade happening but that's not too important.

Here's a pic of the interior...I have tried googling it many times and I haven't seen it anywhere. Have many people got it? I'd really like to change the surrounds around the aircon controls and touchscreen to the same susline micro silver finish because i HATE gloss black interior with a passion...if anyone knows how I can do that, please let me know!

Anyway that's all for now, cheers.

    Mickey

    Nice looking ute mate.

Looks an awful lot like Heartland at Castle Hill - if so, I think I saw you driving it back today! Haven't seen many local utes in blue with supersports. Looked great. Holden dealerships are renowned for poor pre-delivery details. Mine was a maze of buffer trails and swirls when I picked it up. Was horrified. You won't see just how bad it is until all the fillers wash out (or you attack it with IPA, if you're impatient like me!). Took me an age to correct it. You'll probably find also, that the clear is a little no the soft side (not as bad as suby paint - but certainly not VW or Merc hard) so you need to be fairly careful to not put swirls in. Mine needs a correction again.

Congratulations on the purchase and hope it brings you a lot of fun and safe motoring.

Hey that probably was me! Castle Hill indeed, the place is HUGE haha. My mate bought one around about two months ago so we went shopping there for the no bullshit price hehe. Couldn't be happier.

On a side note...me being a detailer, I told him what I thought of the initial detail and suffice to say I got that and some other niggly issues fixed up and got the car re-delivered to me tonight - happy Mickey. They can't clean windows to save their lives and I'm devoting all of Saturday this weekend to my car, my two Rotex buffers and Collinite wax, and whatever else I fancy doing to protect the hell out of it. Can't wait to do that!

I've actually buffed a fair few Holdens before from a previous job so I know what they're like - lol, imperfections in paint has come up a few times.

Thanks for the comments boys, unfortunately the hardlids from Holden are lame, I want a really nice flat thin one but I'm looking around at the moment trying to get the best price. There's some around on eBay from as cheap as like $1400 but I dunno if I wanna trust them!

rusty, what's Holden 550? sorry if that sounds horribly newb, I've got no idea haha. Don't wanna lower it for at least 4-5 months or so but ideally it really needs a drop.

hang on, derp, i get it...go to holden, pay 550, lowering wheel balance and fitting.

was reading on another forum thread about a place in penrith who do heaps of utes on king springs? apparently 450 to members. far out if it's only that much i'll go get it done! hehe

edit: i was meant to have another post before this but i think a mod needs to accept it first. something about spam? oh well.

Thanks dude! Don't think I'll go down the exhaust path tbh. Had good fun on the old car, seriously not a stone left unturned on the poor little rocket...bit over it now, this thing will do all work km's and I'm happy with its performance as it is

Hahaha... I imagine it has! It's rare to find a holden WITHOUT paint issues! Enjoy your saturday, mate. You'll be stoked once it's all finished! It's always more satisfying to get your own car finished than a client's (except clients cars pay better!)

Dude the Holdens I've done have been terrible. Spent 23 hours on one and far out, I wanted to beat the damned thing in. Solid red. NEVER AGAIN hahaha.

No work on tomorrow I've just heard, so tomorrow is D-Day! Hoping I won't need to get the shinex out but hey it's there if I need it. Gonna try 106, if I need more I'll get the festool polishes out of the shinex box! otherwise, lime prime, IPA and collinite x2, then 303 on all the plastics, nanolex on wheels, a specialist metal sealer for the exhaust and maybe 303 in the tub... Then nanolex all the windows, 303 the engine bay, 303 fabric spray the interior, 303 all the plastics and probably some Nanolex on all my silver trim. We should be all good after that, but I bet you any money I'll find something else to seal.

Nice car mate, congrats on the purchase. That color looks very nice in that light.

Almost tempted to go down the Supersport route with the SS, they look nice.

But i think i will stick with getting the Advanti Zeta wheel.

    Cheers.

Cheers for that info bud, any idea on what height is offered? Is it just a standardised ''lowered height'' adjustment or do they give you a few options?

On a side note...got the car detailed yesterday, despite the silly patch of rain in the middle. It's all protected and looks much better. Took some photos on a mate's DSLR so I'll upload those if my internet gets any faster than dial-up today.
    Cheers,

    Mickey

Not sure about Heartland's support on modifications and how much they'll do. I know that Suttons at Waitara, where I bought mine, will pretty much get anything done to your car you want. They have partnerships with local workshops and will cover any work you have done through them - but THEY cover the warranty, not necessarily Holden. Much the same deal with Barry Smith Holden at Pennant Hills. You could also take your car to a walkinshaw performance outlet (there's one in wetherill park) and holden will honour the warranty done on their work. You do pay for it though. I get the impression that Heartland will outsource work to Walkinshaw pre-delivery (they've had a few WP cars for sale as new cars up there in the past) but no idea what they're prepared to do post-delivery.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. I don't need to do it now so I will look into it in the future

I got the guy who did my golf for me to do the ute. Been in the business for 20 years, knows his shit! Had a good chat about work and stuff while I was there too. His name is Rob Salvia and he owns Hunters Hill Window Tinting. He uses Solaguard tint and the ute was $150 cash did a wicked job! It looks quite dark in the photos but it isn't fullysick black 5% or anything hehe.

    Cheers,

    Mickey
