    Default My First SS

    Hey,

Well im really new to this forum. Only joined up last nite, hoping to try and fit into the holden community as i think im just annoying the ford forums with tagging along on there cruises lol.

I am a long time ford man who back in july got over the whole ford thing and looked at holdens for a change.

I have owned several fords including 2x BA xr6 turbos, BA xr8 and an FG turbo ute.
I dont hate them i just needed a change.

Which has led me to my current car..... 2008 VE SS.

Car was stock when i got it apart from the exhaust.
Got it for a good price and it was a manual with a sunroof, so i was happy.

Since then i have tried to make it my own, Not sure if i can post pics in this forum yet or not?

Mods the car has now are:

Lowered on kings sssl all round with monroe shortened shocks
Gloss black staggered 20" VE GTS wheels
    Senator rear spoiler
    G8/GXP rear diffuser
Chev grille (dont shoot me, im tryna find another option as im over it)
    DRL headlights
    LED tail lights
    8000k HID low beams
    Bee sting aerial
    Painted calipers and hubs
    tint
    Holden front lip kit
    Debadged rear
    VCM OTR with Maf
X-FORCE twin 3" Stainless cat back
Aftermarket 4-1 headers and cats - unknown size or brand
VCM infill panel and side panels
Bluepower Racing Developements Custom Maf tune - 270rwkw

Anyway i've probably forgotten something........ hopefully the pics work and you all dont hate my car lol

    Cheers,

    Michael

    Before i did anything.....

    And now.....

Welcome mate, nice looking machine there.

I was also a Ford man for most of my life, but the VE changed that mode of thought.

And now i will never look back.

    Cheers.

Car looks awesome mate. I too had a Chev grille, got over the gold color a little and got a holden grille with the lion painted black. With your black rims, it would set it off nicely. BUT, your chev grille looks very neat with the car. I still think the bowtie is a very neat look compared to the lion

    Nice ride.

I too was very much a FORD man...even though I did own a VT....but when the VE shape came out I looked to see what Ford has got to counter it....and after 5 years....NOTHING...even the new Fords lean towards looking like a poor VE imitation.

The only thing different that I would have on your car.....would be very dark tinted head and tail lights...just to balance up the black and white thing. ATM you have white body with dark wheels below and dark windows above but nothing dark in the middle. The dark head and tail lights complete the black and white theme. You could also (keeping with the black and white theme) think about getting black racing stripes on the body...just an idea for the future perhaps? To be really mean you could get your calipers painted white?

The Gold chev badge seems out of sync with the black and white theme.

    Otherwise very nice!

    Lol my bad!

I saw an Omega here that had been done up and the head and tail lights had been tinted black...not sure how they did it....personally it confused me as to how much more light would be required to shine through the dark tint...but I suppose the guy was trying to create a look.

Just do what RUF-60L has suggested mate and get a normal SS Grill and paint the lion black did it to mine and you will be surprised how good it looks. , your car is a really nice SS not a HSV pretender.

    Cheers mate.

How'd you paint the lion black? Did you need to ruff up the chrome coating so the paint would stick properly or is there a plastic primer or something?

Yea I've still got the standard grill, might pull it out and paint it black and see how it looks

HSV lion/helmet badge was just an idea, decided it wouldnt work anyway.

tossing up at the moment whether to get a walkinshaw bonnet or not...... i really like them.....

u will find that most cars that have black head lights(tinted) have the head light protectors tinted black so they can remove them cuz its illegal ive seen many ppl get away with it during the day but at night time prolli a different story id say but Yeah
the whole black an white theme reminds me of a storm trooper from starwars haha pretty well how i was gonna do mine if i found a white clubby lol

Funny thing about this ford cruise i went on was we passed and old holden cruise on the way up...i shoulda just tagged on to them, i looked like i was lost hahaha...

Have considered matt black or carbon roof, but then it might hide the sunroof and look weird......

got some carbon fibre vynil in the garage, might do my mirrors carbon fibre and see how it looks....... :/

by the way my chev badge and ss badges are wrapped in cabon fibre..... as are a couple dash parts and steering wheel...

gonna paint the stock holden grille today and see how it looks.

    Thanks for the comments guys

You have one great lookin ride TUFVE. How bout vinyl wrapping the lion badge instead of painting if that's possible in the carbon fibre?

no way it would chip the paint.
