I have owned both. LS3 V8 Holdens (more than one) and an I6T Ford (I own neither now). The Ford I6T is easily a better performer in all areas but rear tyre width lets it down a tad.

I'm not being negative - just opinionated, which I'm entitled to be. Just like everyone else. Calling someone names because you disagree with their opinion just shows you lack a fair bit of maturity. I can talk with many people about different things with differing opinions and we never resort to name calling.

Telling someone you dont know that they will regret buying something the have wanted for a long time is possibly a little over opinionated..you seem to do this to a lot of people on this site...yes your entitled to your opinion but that does not necessarily mean that you are the font of all knowledge. If you love the Fords so much, in the words of another member "why here"?

How many diff bushes are replaced in FG 6t, f6, GS, GT and Territory's at Ford Dealerships daily around the country? I am not the font of all knowledge however you could propably give me an answer....I know for a fact it is heaps, so to say they are better equipped is rubbish...technology may be ahead in the motors but that would be it.

Yes it was probably a bit immature to name call, however you are very good at rubbing people up the wrong way.

Right now? A desk! Living in a city like Melbourne I don't need a car. My money is MUCH better spent elsewhere. Despite the current economic conditions, there are actually some very sound investments. And a car isn't one of them. Since it's not a necessity for me, I don't drive one. My ride says "Commodore" because if I do drive, it's occasionally a mate's Commodore.

Once again we have Rufys the troll derailing people's ride threads with his negative comments.

If you have nothing nice to say then don't and stop destroying people's threads.

No you wouldnt Rufys, your a self confessed expert on everything.

I reckon you should be an astronaut as you are already a very experienced Space Cadet, but that is just my opinion.

Go learn the definition of trolling! The world isn't all love and fairy dust! And I'm not being negative, I'm commenting with opinions I have. I'm not actually the person that "derailed" this. If you read it and have basic comprehension skills, I make comments based on my opinion and some people choose to over-react and go of on rants and tangents. They can just choose to ignore me if they want. It's no different to the very opinionated posts from people like minux and troy711. Here's just one example for you Clair:

People have a choice, to gamble or not to, do not make us suffer because of idiots.

I understand why they want the internet banned, people must be addicted to that!!
So stop vilifying me simply because you disagree with what I have to say.

LMAO! Show me where I've ever claimed that and I'll quit using the internet altogether!

Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it right. And that goes for me to by the way. Now grow up and learn to converse like an adult on topics where people disagree.

Haha - mate I wasn't saying you were part of this. Just making a point about how it's ok for some to make the opinions heard and not others. No ulterior motives.

You do realize Rufys that the example of opinion you posted by minux was in a thread solely created for opinions sake? LOL

This is someones ride thread. You came in here told him he would regret buying a holden, because YOU like fords more.

Grow up, share your opinions where they are warranted then people might stop hating you so much.

OP I like the car and hope you enjoy your change to Holden : )

i reckon when you're talking about the speed difference between the SS and XR6T, the main difference would just be the power delivery, the ss would clearly have a smoother curve, where the xr6t would spike when boost peaks

in the end, its not all about power and speed

congrats on the new purchase, and to what you said earlier about it being a car you have wanted and loved for ages, i know exactly what thats like, when i got my ss it was a 9 year long dream come true

That used to be the case but Ford have tweaked the shit out of the I6T and it's now as smooth as to drive... You can certainly drive it smooth but the torque is awesome. No it's not all about power. I never said it was. For me, it's about overall package and the sort of feeling you get when driving the car. If I had to pick one car I've owned to go back to, it would be my M6 E-Series LS2 Clubby for sure. While I think the I6T XR6 Turbo is a better overall package than even HSVs, I miss the grunt of the V8, the noise it makes and the style of the car most. Seats were better than the Ford too - Fords are far too soft. And the three little things that annoyed me most about the Ford were no illumination on steering wheel controls, no flexi wipers and no projector headlights. Although they have the projector headlights now.

The one that sticks in my mind is the stock XR6 Turbo ute with the ZF auto doing a sub 13 in full street trim.

    Thunder ftw.

Off topic of threads purpose but on topic of what the thread has become.... :P As said to begin with... there is little in it between the xr6t and the ve ss. The xr6t will ALWAYS feel like a faster car for those who havn't driven one ONLY because of the turbo and dramatic increase in torque. And yes the xr6t do have faster stock times down teh 1/4 I'm pretty sure but dont quote that. However, if you were to extend the length to say 1/2 or even 1 mile/1.6km the SS would take the cake hands down I think. The turbo is good but tends to reach its peak pretty quickly, where as the SS will still pull hard in 6th gear.

Posted from experience... feel free to disect it though.
