We picked up the car on Friday with 51XXX Km on the clock after trading in my VZ S ute. Originally I was looking at a few different cars but settled on this one after a we were given a good price and a decent trade in figure. First stop was Direct Wheels and Tyres in Sydney for new wheels. I've been told that Direct are the only importer of DTM Wheels in Australia and that my car is the first WM in the country with black Flairs on it . They took a few photos of it so when they are posted on the website I will also put them up here.

Apart from the usual marks you get with any used car the outside is very tidy and the interior is imaculate. I am also replacing the side indicators because the lenses are cracked and over all a bit ratty for my standards. I already have replacements, I've just gotta get them painted and put in.

Anyway, time for pics. Excuse the quality, I took them with my mobile on the way home from Sydney. Also, the pics don't to the dish on the wheels justice. I am still in awe of how deep they actually are lol.

And finally a stock photo of a WM in Pensioner Spec lol

lol defiently a change from your previous car, wheels look good, but spokes look small for 20's must be the machined lip and black - same as my car, makes them look smaller,

i serviced a ve ss with dtm 20z, that's interesting to know..... they only come into Sydney

how are you finding the alloytec and 5sp with the barge around it? they definitely tuned much better than the vz ay....

Hell yes, the engine/gearbox combo is a 100% improvement over the VZ. It feels better, responds quicker and the gear shifts are fast and smooth. The only thing I don't like about it at the moment is the boat-like suspension. You hit a bump, bounce into it.. bounce out.. and then bounce again! I shouldn't complain too much considering the market the car is aimed at though. I'll fix that soon enough

Looks like a nice update from the ute. Needs to be lowered though. People will think you stole it from the local bowls club.

lol, just thinking, if you lower one of these barges, image if you went to drive into a car park with a large ramp and it got stuck on the rise haha, these look phenomenal, but the body really hides how low the undercarriage gets, and this being LWB lol.............

Yep, lowering is on the way! CSP has changed the springs in his Calais V Sportswagon and apparently they will fit mine. I'll put some pics of the window tint up when I get it done, still dunno if i should go 35% or 20% lol

Put it this way, I'm lucky I still have all my arms and legs lol. They cost $3600 for wheels, tyres, balance, fitting, alignment, nuts and lock nuts. I looked for over 2 hours for wheels that would suit and these were the only ones I found that I liked. The best part is I paid for them while I still owned my VZ ute and I also got the invoice made out to my business name so it's a tax write off

Sure is a nice update, it feels so much better to drive then the VZ. Plus it is comfort all the way

I looked underneath it the other day and you are right, the undercarriage hangs down a fair way. I don't want to make it stupidly low, just enough to make it not look like a 4WD.

    Whats with the avatar..?

The dish is about 4 inches. It doesn't sound like much but when you actually see it on the car it is huge. The first thing I said to the guy at the shop when I saw it was 'holy fk man, are those going on MY car, are they going to fit?' haha.

In a few months I'll get it lowered. I'll probably end up going 1 1/2 in the front and 2 in the rear.

Got the windows tinted yesterday, I decided to go with 35% all round not 20%.

An Orix dealer around my area has a WM Statey in sandstorm with the exact same problem with the side indicators, so know your not alone.

Not alot to report on progress... I got the windows tinted 2 weeks ago. I went 35% all round, I was going to go 20% but decided that I didn't want to worry about having defect issues. Ordered a bee sting aerial the other day and as soon as the better half gets home I'll put it on.

I've got it booked in for around 2 months time to get lowered.. 25mm to 30mm in the front and 40mm to 45mm in the rear. Everyone keeps telling me to drop it on the ground but because it has wider wheels at the back I don't want to have to worry about rolling the guards so it is only going down a touch.

Where did you order your aerial from ? Let me know how the reception is with it... Nice car you didn't want to get an 8 though ?

    Cheers

I got the aerial off eBay for about 45 bucks. It's an aluminum one and is about 80mm long. The reception is fine on most stations but RawFM is crap but that could also have to do with the fact that they have weak as shit broadcast towers. I can post a pic or the eBay link if you like..?

I did want an 8 but this was at the right price. There was also a VE SS on the lot at the same time we got the Statesman.. same price but I decided against it purely because the Stato has waaay more features and luxury.
