Out of curiosty what would i need for a conversion besides the gearbox and pedals & clutch.
as for the radiator i know its okay in the futre if i change it with an auto ones as the 5 speed has an auto radiator in it, just no need to connect the cooling lines.
ok, easiest to get hold of a donor car and sit the side by side when you swap everything over.
gearbox, pedals and clutch you know.
computer (not 100% necessary, i've been told they will run with the auto computer but just incase)
console - vl manual consoles aren't easy to come by either...
i swapped over the tailshafts when i did mine, because my donor was a wagon instead of sedan.
you will need to either pull the auto wiring loom out and relpace it with the manual one or bridge the purple wires from the battery to override the automatic gearbox's neutral switch..
you will need to wire up the reverse lights..
i think thats about everything off the top of my head, do a quick search on calaisturbo if you cant find anything on here, thats probably one of the best sites to look up if you own a vl
try this
auto to manual - calaisturbo.com.au
hey mate got a question got spark got crank no fuel and injecter pulse is haywire an i just converted it to a manual.
did it run before the manual or was it a rolling shell cinversion?
was running yeah
basic conversion is simple as
g/box
pedal boxs are the same you just need the clutch pedal to put on it
clutch gear
tailshaft (or front yoke, theyr different lengths)
manual loom for reverse lights ( you can just make it like i did easy to do with 2 bits of wire)
andd thats it to have it running and legalish
then the other bits are obviously console, floor pan with rubber boot, ecu (not needed runs fine with the auto computer)
all that does is prevents the starter motor from working with the ignition
computer doesnt matter either baha
auto computer will run manual, manual wont run auto
but if the computer from the donor car is rooted it could be the cause of the fuel problem.
he hasn't touched anything else that could affect the fuel?
have you got any ideas or are you just gonna sit there and pick my posts apart?
ffs
Depending on what kind of box you put behind it the tailshaft might have to be customized. Make sure you get a box with the right stud pattern!
