Would definatly get same ECU as standard.
An has the dizzy bin out ?
Also check ur imobilizer(if fitted).

Hamilton NZ?
would most likely be a 2lt RB20.
on the options plate below the vin plate the engine code will be LC6 denotes a 2lt this won't help if the engine has been changed thou.
the 2 on the ecu would be a good indicator to because all the vls I have owned all have a 3 on the ecu.
Nobody wants to play with me
2EM is RB20 manual ECU
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
thanks for all your guys help . it dose infact say lc6 and am pretty sure its a rb20 . thanks
will try a new ecu and see wat hapens . again thanks
it sound like your dizzy is out, my vl did the same thing like your is doing, if you want email me at
batmanonfire@msn.com and I will give you my mobile number and then you can call and I will talk you through it. If you havent fixed the problem. If you email me put "about VL" as the subject
I have just diagnosed my own VL which had the same problem, it was a faulty fuel pump.
I removed the pump and tested it with a battery charger (12 Volt) in a bucket of water and it is definitely cactus.
I would suggest you investigate the fuel pump too as I had spark from the dizzy and at the plugs as well as fuel at the rail like you. The problem seems to be that pump was priming but it didn't deliver enough fuel to start the engine.
PS if you are having problems with the ECU disco the battery overnight and the ECU should reset.
