vk taillights into vl?
hey guys will a vk taillight fit into a vl commy? some asshole smashed my L/H taillight when i was parked at woolies and a mate of mine has a vk one that he said he would give me, thanks

i think they fit but i think also they are a different shape so will look pretty gay. if it gets you outta trouble for a while then give it a go.
the vk tail lights fit onto the vl my brother has done it and the shape is the same

my bad. might be the colour or the edging? something is different about them....
same- the vk berlina has tinted tail lights maybe thats wot your thinking of

I just bought two VL tail lights and the centre garnish of eBay for a grand total of $30 including postage. Pretty stoked about that :P
my leftside tail light is cracked and has been glued a few too many times. Might be a stupid questions but how do i get it out to replace it??Also, Holden has quoted me $70 odd for a new one, on ebay they have some cheaper, like 30-40...how much should i expect to pay? I am new to all this so I am a bit cluless,....

Your doing well if you can buy a new light from holden for $70 aftermarkets retail for around that.
Tail light differences
All VK taillights have painted black edges.
Berlina lights arent really tinted but have the risen parts of the light painted gving the illusion of tinting.
SL lights dont have the risen parts painted
Calais have the risen parts painted bottom black, top white. They also have red striping.
IMHO the aftermarket lights dont fit as well nor are the same quality as the genuine lights. If you buy a new light/lights I suggest you throw away the rubber seal and use butal rubber to seal the light builders use it for something, you buy it on a roll.
You can mould it to shape, it will repel water & as it is sticky it will seal way better than the original rubber.

Aftermarket ones cost me $140 with overnight freight for both left and right. Anyways to replace them remove the five self tapping screws from behind each light and also the two little bolts from behind the centre piece and the whole thing comes off as one piece. Then remove the screws holding the light/s to the centre piece attach new taillight/s and then replace it all.Originally Posted by Rinn_P

they do fit
vk taillights do fit even if you put vh taillights into a vl they fit
