What have you done now! lol good to see you finally went ahead with it!

Unsure if VL's have an inhibitor switch, but Im guessing so, and you need to short out this wire. (switch at base of auto selector to stop car starting when not in Park or Neutral)

Dash lights may have something to do with this area also. The console lights are wired with the dash lights.

bridge the purple wires from the battery (neutral switch for the auto box)
theres another thread on this conversion in here by goon that has some good info in it.

you're dash lights could be a million things, i would be looking for shorts somewhere or a fuse, start simple then work up.

next to the battery is a few relays, one has to thick purple wires running into it, cut and join
also a good place to fit a kill switch (Y)

is the central locking aftermarket or from a berlina/calais?

edit: did you check your ignition barrel wiring when you pulled out your auto pedal box?

I think its something to do with the central locking. By any chance is it an immobiliser too? And arent the headlights/parkers connected to the central locking from memory instead of indicators? Do they still work or is it only the dash lights?

I don't have central locking, but I had something like this happen once, my headlights/dashlights would turn on for a few seconds, then *click* circuit breaker would cut out - no lights.

Turned out to be a short in my towing lights plug, and apparently thry're all on the one circuit. If what azz is saying is correct, and the central locking is on the same circuit as the lights, then i would be looking for something along the lines of a short or more likely an earth that has come loose somewhere...

Is taking it to an auto-electrician a possibility?
