    Default headlights

I'm not sure if it's been covered or not, i couldn't find anything with a quick search, but is there a way to improve the crappy headlights on a vl without going to spotties/fog lights or a HiD kit?

I was thinking along the lines of something electrical but have no idea where to start.

    Any help appreciated, cheers guys.

main problem is usually the reflectors inside which get dirty, especially if the globes get dirty when replaced
the lights can be taken apart and the reflectors cleaned but often heat has damaged them, I got a non genuine headlight unit and its been quite good
the small rubber part that holds the parking light globe is often damaged by heat and it seems nothing can be used to replace it

an old holden bloke said the headlights were never much good from new

you need to check the conditon of the chrome reflectors first, if they have flaked/peeled replacing the globes will give you minimal improvement.
i use xenon globes super white, there are different brands some better than others, I use the ones from super cheap although they are not the best ones they are much better than the stock yellow lights and they are about $25.00 and simply just a replacment globe (hid kits are globes with ballasts and can be very expensive).
you could also check your headlight adjustment for even light spread.

its all too do with the reflectors
the heat will cause them to dull and not refelct the beam great

new headlights and globes are your best choice

plus it freshens up the car quite abit

fantastic. this was really starting to get to me.

i was looking into the HiD kits but apparently they are quite illegal even with projector headlights, and vl's cop a bit of attention from the boys in blue as is, I don't want to give them any more reason to pull me up than I have to.
are the rare spares/repro headlights any good or should i hunt for genuine ones? O only ask because I have heard the knock off taillights are shocking quality..

    thanks for the tips guys..

what brand are the xenon super whites that you use harry? if some brands are better than others what do you recommend?

you might try cleaning the reflectors and inside of front glass, this may be enough

leave no fingerprints on globes, etc

I had a good look inside the lights yesterday afternoon, the reflective part that surrounds the globe is shagged. All dull and I think flaking off in some small patches. Thanks guys.
