Default Vl Having troubles plz help me

    Hey there pplz,

Ok now i went to start it the other day and had no spark, so i thought it was the CAS so i changed the distibutor and it started but ran like shit. (The dizzy was out of running car).

So i put the original dizzy back in just to try it and it went, i just had the timing done yesterday by a mechanic and he said give that a go..

So it went alright for about half an hour till we went to big w straight after we left the mechanic, we where at the shops for about half an hour to an hour, walked back to the car and went to start it had trouble starting and it was like it wasnt getting any fuel, but i got it going and it ran like shit again for about 5 minutes,

after that it went like normal. This morning i got up and went out to start it.....and guess what it wouldnt start!!!

If any one has any ideas can they plz help me!

the CAS controls the injector pulse, Spark and makes the fuel pump run

if you swapped the dissy with one which has been working fine then one would think is the CAS making connection to the computer

wiggle the plug for the CAS, so times the connections inside the plug corrode and dont connect or have bad connections causing many things
not starting, running fine sometimes and suddenly stalling

as for the weak spark check all the plugs are on good and the leads are on good,
no harm changing the coil with a spare

As for the spark i pulled the coil lead off the dizzy and stuck a screwdriver in the lead and stuck it 5mm away from the bracket that you pull the motor out with and thats how i checked the spark, so i try with the other coil and see how it goes...

as for the CAS... the petrol pump is working not sure about injectors but can smell the fuel there and for the spark thats cot me stuffed!!!....for the moment anyway until i check it out tomorrow

Ok thanks for all you guys help, i just had a fiddle with it it took like 2secs to fix, well after changing the coil in the dark i tested with a screwdriver in the end of the coil lead, i noticed a spark where it clips into the timing housing bracket,

so......... i changed the coil lead and tested that it didn't do it, but still had a weak orange spark, i thought i would check the plugs (not spark plugs) for the coil and the part on the side of the dizzy, all i did was get a small flat head screwdriver and close the female plugs a little bit so it would be a tighter connection, im pretty sure it was the one for the coil as it was pretty loose....

YAY..The car is up and running again... Cheers for all your help!!!

NOTE: The second image has been modified by me in paint as it has plates on the car and so noone knows where it was taking.

You probably need to replace the CAS too, pull it out and see if it has a whole bunch of red gunk built up on it from the old dizzy.

I've heard that if the CAS goes then the dizzy usually needs to be replaced , you seem to have done it backwards to the usual order but I'll bet that this is your problem.

there is no need to replace the whole dizzy it is just a housing for the cas and two bearings, a cas kit is about $80-$100 cas and 2 bearings EASILY change yourself, a new dizzy is $450 and all you get is new cas and 2 bearings already installed.

as has been mentioned a few times, it's most likely corrosion on the connector for your cas (or AFM)

get some contact cleaner spray, pop off the connectors for cas and afm, spray it on, and then plug/unplug like a madman so that the contacts all clean up

then get some compressed air and blow away all the contact cleaner, and she'll be mint

rumor has it that the PVC tape or glue or something used in the VL loom aids corrosion of the terminals.

power transistor possibly on dizzy. little T shape plug goes on its contacts(little black square looking thing)
as well as mentioned CAS plug. Have you pulled back the boot on the CAS plug and checked the back of the spade connectors where the wires are crimped. thats a common place for corrosion. When you changed the CAS did you make sure u put the metal disk back in properly and not flipped it.??? making sure it is clean with no debris and grease on it.
