Hi all,
got given a vl for a paddock basher, first time i have ever worked on one(i dont even remember ever being in one).
it is an auto.
when i turn the key the starter doesnt go. it is auto, i tired moving the tbar through all the gears and it didnt cut in. went to check if the neutral switch is connected, thought it would be on the tbar but it isnt, is it on the box? or is it connected to the cable looking thing that runs through the firewall?
i have checked the fuses, and screwdrivered the starter and it works.
i couldnt hear the fuel pump so i got underneath, i was told that there is supposed to be an internal and external pump and the external one was missing. i took the internal one out and hooked it up to a batt and it didnt work so i macguyvered a vn pump into it so that should have enough pressure to run the motor.
the fuel pump still doesnt work with the key on.
is there something that would cause both these problems?
i didnt get time to use a test light to check power at the relay, i will do that in the morning.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers Shane

check all the relays first off mate
you can bypass the neutral switch near the battery theres a few relays, one has two thick purple wires cut them and join em together
but id suggest its something else causing it if the fuel pump wont run
I would be inclined to check the CAS as i have different troubles trying to get my vl to go and as one off the guys said to me it runs the petrol pump the starter and spark so if u have none of this its the CAS which is the crank angle sensor found in the distributor
