Hey guys, just wanna know how to adjust the idle. i just moved the timing coz it wasnt right now its idle wierd, its like it wants to stall when its in drive.
above the rocker cover the bit that holds the accelerator cable should have a thread on it with some nuts that can be adjusted, just adjust them a bit till its idling the way you want it to
i know you can adjust it there but is there any other way it can be adjusted coz i dont really wanna do it there
cheers anyway
what engine

rb30 engine mate
yep take the passenger kick panel off and you can adjust it on the computer with a flat blade screwdriver![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
yip as above if noones messed with the idle screw use the ecu screw dont turn it to far its the diagnostic activation screw too if you turn it all the way.

I have sent an idle adjustment guide to your email. it is to big to post 627kbs.
Nobody wants to play with me
if the car is stock then unless your idle valve is broken - chances are your timing is incorrect.
it should be 15 deg BTDC when fully warmed up etc.
the idle is controlled by the ECU via a PWM style solenoid located on the factory plenum.
there is an adjustment screw on where the valve sits that lets you adjust how much air the valve lets past. once your timing is right etc you can adjust by using this.
interestingly, the VL has a shit idle control system in that
1) for cold start, it has an auxiliary valve that opens/closes when heated up. it has some kind of heater in it, and it also heats up from engine heat. - if this is stuck closed you will get a crap idle when cold.
2) for extra load on the motor due to A/C it has an auxiliary idle solenoid - which is rigged to your AC switch. you flick on the AC, the idle solenoid opens and picks up the revs - then theAC compressor turns on and loads up the engine and brings down the revs.
3) the last idle control bit is the PWM solenoid i talked about in the top of the post - these can get sticky and clogged, causing poo idle all around generally.
Also keep in mind that faulty idle could be caused by air leaks in the intake piping AFTER the air flow meter - so worthwhile checking timing and leaks before you play around with idle valves.
good luck!
cheers mate i will have a look today and let you all know
hey all i just adjusted it on the idle valve screw as it was a fair way in
