Ok so i want to turbo the vl
Im new to all the turbo stuff so bair with me,
What do i need to turbo it?
On my engine block under exhaust manifold there is a bung is this a turbo block?
Or how can i tell without pulling the engine apart?
How do i turbo it?
Is there any diagrams to show how to do it?
What would it roughly cost for a stock engine setup? Stock turbo like t3 or something?
How to tell if the 5 speed manual is a turbo box or standard?
and do you need a turbo ecu and wiring loom?
cheers in advance for helping me?
Do a search on this forum in the vl thread and youll get all the answers u want! just type turbo![]()
I have looked at what you said but there are pages an pages of it, the misses is gettin shitty coz spending to much time on the net so if someone could just answer my questions i be happy cheers
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...archid=1894584 THIS DOESNT HELP U AT ALL??
this has been covered plenty of times on JC and Calais Turbo....
Series 2 Block has bung under exhaust for oil feed for turbo.
and a larger one just above oil pan for return. as well as water feed towards back of block... return is simply tap into heater hose line..
well then i guess i have 4 turbo engines then coz they got the big bung just above the sump
goon i clicked on that link and it says sorry no matches
below the exhaust manifold there is 2 more plugs besides the big one at the bottom.
if its a series 2 vl, it has the motor
to do a basic setup and have it running you need the following;
Turbo manifold
Turbo
Oil and coolant lines from block to turbo
Turbo crossover pipe
Dump pipe
the na motor will run with stock computer and injectors, you need to retard the timing and run 98octane fuel or it will ping itself to death
just get a stock turbo setup and bolt it on itll run fine on 6-7psi
if you want to up the boost youll need turbo injectors and turbo computer (na comp wont run the injectors properly) or just bigger injectors and a tune, a knock sensor is highly recommended, a intercooler will help stop pinging aswell
the na motor running 7psi is equivalent to a factory turbo motor on 10psi
thanks harv6 thats all i wanted to know i will put up a pic of the side of the block as soon as i can
cheers mate
how do u tell the turbo manual to a normal one?
and wats in a limited edition 5 speed coz i brought a limited edition
what colour is it?
normally the limited editions just had a few more features ie different interior pieces etc
nothing special performance wise
turbo box is a mx7 and the na is a mf5
the obvious difference is the turbo box is big, the mf5 is a relatively small gbox in the tunnel where the turbo will take up most of the space
if its a stocko itll be a standard box
The limited edition is white with blue interior and a tacho dash with digital clock and volt ,oil press gauges, it has limited edition on the boot back doors and not sure where else
these engine pics.... is this the turbo engine?
series 2 block NA block.
1st pic(left) is the oil feed
2nd pic(middle) is the oil return
and 3rd is(right) bottom bung is water feed.
i undo this to drain block when changing coolant.
water return tap in to heater hose.
you can tell on the engine id plate (other side near alternator) ends with a number i forgot...
somebody help

Hey these are the pics out of my spare parts car eventually this engine is going in my purple vl so the third photo is water line right but which one coz there is two bolts here?
And so if these are the turbo engines i have 4 of them so what are they worth???
What are the specs for these engines compared to the N/A engines???
Also after a standard turbo setup then so i can bolt straight on and go go go.... LOL
i told you im my last post dude
Forgot to add this one
yea i know man but why is there 2 bolts on the water pic one
okies fair enough man??? what would a complete one go for with out a couple of bits say dizzy and coil and maybe couple of other things
a complete, stock s2 na motor.. if you find the right person whos stupid enough to pay it a couple hundred bucks just because of the block
you can get them for 50-100bucks all the time
advertise them around the net target vl and skyline websites
ok sweet az bro cheers for that
do you know where i could get a cheap complete setup cant sign up to calaisturbo as i only have a hotmail account
get onto vlcalais.com and get a post up of your ride man
theres always sets going..
personally im going to track down everything individualy will most likely end up cheaper
but im just bolting a turbo or tuning her rich and retarding the timing and going to see if it pings etc
ebay is always a good place to start
ok cheers for the info man i have a purple on and a walky rep too
Theyre not turbo motors. All series 2 vl have blocks with provisions for turbo. N/a motors the engine number ends with an A6 turbo motors ends with an A8
I think a good motor of known condition ie heard running and or test driven with low kay's can be worth around $250
