    Default Series 200 VL

    G'day,

I am restoring a VL Series 200 and am unsure which casette player (head unit) is the original?

Could someone please help me out by posting a pic of the original head unit?

from memory it is the same as the vk and the vn also if you find one you have to remove they are a real pain in the AR!* to get out they do not have the slide in bracket and you need to remove the entire dash to get it out because there is a single security bolt in the back centre of the unit which you can't get to, when I removed the one from my old vk I gutted it like a fish then tin snips and plier to get it out in about twenty pieces.
here is the pic you asked for from my vl.

    hey,

thanks for the pics... i haven't been sure with the series 200 because i know it came out with a lot of the features that were in the berlina and calais such as electric windows, electric aerial, body kit and central locking. i just assumed it would have the same head unit as the berlina or calais since it had all the other features of them.

VN was digital tuning presets. Not sure on the others, but i'm positive of that..

yeah, didn't think the vn and the vk had the same head unit. it would be really helpful if someone with an original series 200 could take a pic or tell me which head unit was the original. i think it could possibly be the one in the pictures posted above but i'm still not certain on it. i might just have to check the codes on my series 200 and compare them to another VL, see if i can't find out that way.

its a tough one, i have searched the internet all over and can't find the answer anywhere. i am confident someone here will be able to shine some light on this problem though. if need be, i will post the build plate codes so i can compare them with the codes of someones VL on here.
