im not saying i dont beleive u but how can VIroads say that, are they good for anything, mate ther are millions of ways to prove it, its just working out the best way to shove it up them, take the manual if you have it that shows the different codes or print something out from Holden site. This is one of the most stupid things I've heard of them doing, which branch are you going to?

If there saying the VL Calais model was never fitted, they are wrong.

If they are saying YOUR vehicle wasn't a V8 from factory, they might be right. However, as long as the same model motor (a carby 304) was fitted to your car, and all assosiated pollution gear was fitted aswell, they shouldn't be able to cause any problems.

Commodore Engine Prefixes - Holdenpaedia. copy and paste this into your browser window, its just and example but I would just speak to the manager or supervisor and get them to ring Holden Australia, if they dont then just cane them coz you know you are in the right, probably even try a cop shop stat declaration or a Holden dealer letter or something, if they can help, The broady cops should be OK if they see your doing the right thing, unless the car is copbait then not the best idea. The only time you need an engineers is if no car of the year model came with that engine. So you cant chuck a chev in without engineers coz VL only came out with a 5.0 Holden in the V8

To follow on from above, you can't even put a VN 5L EFI motor in without needing an engineers certificate, likewise a VK 304 Carby engine. It has (is meant to be) to be one from a VL. Same if your putting a 5L into your VN, you technically speaking can't use one from a VS, even tho the motors are identical.

no probs, let us know what happens, just to give some info, I just put a 308 in a mates car who had a 253 and ALL he took with him for the details change was the receipt from the guy he bought it from and they checked it on the stolen register, once they saw it was cool, they swapped it straight over and gave him a new rego sticker i think, pretty sure engine number might be on the reg sticker so yeh, no questions about the engine other than number and receipt. That was a vh as well, hence the 253-308 being allowed. Seriously, why dont you just go back there if its close enough and just try again, broady got a lot of nuffies working there who don't even know what V8 is?? You'll be surprised, just dont get the same idiot!
