yeah well,
if you can, do it yourself, and even if you can't, challenge yourself. i have seen some really poor jobs done on some special cars, old school cars, say 80's cars. but seriously, you are better off trying to tackle it yourself than paying someone good money to do what they aren't prepared to do. shortcuts and whatever are all too common in the sound system business and i hate to see too many poor folk copping the same trash i did.
tell me about your experiences...
note: some stereo installation companies are half decent about their quotes, and jobs, but if you think you've been done over, don't let it go down quietly.
I've always done my own stereo work, but I had a bit of help from mates with the first couple things when I was just learning.
At least then you know that nothing dodgy has gone on, and if it doesn't work then you have learnt something in the process.

i've always done my own, only problem i had was with my first car and my memory wire earthed out and left a burning plastic smell in my car for a week lol, needless to say i've used fuses ever since
Always done my own, never had any problems... its why they have instructions!!! even though i dont follow them anymore as ive found my own way over the years.....n my setup is 10 x better!!
I have almost every tool under the sun, so i cant go dodge!![]()
DIY, then you only have yourself to blame and as above have said you learn something on the way, also considering the vl aftermarket instal you must cut the sides of the shroud away so the stereo sits flush, best done with a dremel type tool, I wouldn't trust (or pay) anybody to do this for me, as I am sure most people here have seen some real shockers done on there own cars and those of mates.
Nobody wants to play with me
