Hey my na vl 5 speed is ticking.
was wondering if there was a quick fix to this and heard it is a pretty common problem with vl's
it matches the rythym of the motor.. for example at idle it ticks and if you rev it the ticking gets faster. it is loud enough to hear it through the bonnet and makes the car sound realy shit. the motor is in good condition and it is just one of those things that annoy you if you have a mate that owns a effing ford and will give you sh1t for "an engine thats going to blow up" im sure some of you know what i mean
anywho any ideas
cheers
check the oil asap
if okay give it a good service
itll be noisy lifters
You could use addiditives to fix noisy lifters, I havn't used them so I can't vouch their worth.
if its 1 or more noisy lifters the best additive Ive found is valvoline engine flush, its better than nulon lifter quietener which works, but not for long
Noisy Lifters..... Common...... Fresh oil change generally fixes the problem
a good preventative is to change oil regulary not let it get gummy and cause deposits. i change mine every 5000 Kms... if its not the lifters it could be injectors as well.
Look Here Cleaning Lifters - calaisturbo.com.au
For cleaning injectors if you cant fix it by flushing your system or using additive.
cheers all for the reply
i should have said it isnt the oil has been changed about 200 kms ago so thats all good
yeh ill give a flush ago and see what happens
thanks
did you use the right oil a 20w50 oil? thinner oil will cause the lifters to make noise. nulon lifter free is a great product that works very well and regular oil changes every 5000kms.
you could also check your oil pressure to make sure the oil pump is not starting to fail.
Nobody wants to play with me
uhh not to sure as to what oil was used
i just bought the car and it had a $800 service a week before apparntly but i have no reciepts ill get an additive this arfternoon and see how it goes.
thanks again
also the fuel prssure is looking fairly low
how do you fix this or you can't?
silly question but never came accros it before

possible the high flow pump starting to play up or the inertia pump...
maybe fuel filter as well.
for $15 slap in a new filter.
how r u thinking the fuel pressure is low?
i meant the oil pressure, typo
um just had both fuel pumps replaced, internal and external
oil pressure could be worn impeller in pump(have seen one b4) as well as oil levels or wrong oil viscosity
turns out everything is fine exept for the injectors ,ie the oil pressure is fine its just my dodgy instruments
i put that lifter free stuff from nulon it has quietend down a bit but ill have a look into actualy cleaning it myself like taking off the rocker cover and fingers crossed its clean but i think its going to be covered in sludge
thanks
you need a new set of lifters pretty hexy last time i changed them
