as the title suggests is it possible?

hmmm vk went on to vh what actualy do u want front bar n grille......
y wuld u b doin this
Not without major major surgery - apart from the chassis rails, the sheetmetal underneath would be all different. It might be doable, but it'd be a major, major, major project. Best off just buying a VK.
why would you want to ugy up a perfectly good looking VL front end?
because i love the vk front ends always have always will if its to hard ill deal with it
cheers govZ

technically do-able, but a right pain in the arse. plus the vl front end is a significant aerodynamic advantage over the vk nose, but if your heart's set on it I don't see it making roadworthy, just something to keep in mind...
why not just put an RB30 in a VK?
Because you have to replace the sheetmetal (the structural part) that the front bar bolts onto (as well as the headlights and grille) with the appropriate sheetmetal from a VK. It would not be a simple changeover, far from it. You'd have to get it engineered.Originally Posted by VryNeat
best bet is to get a VK and leave the vl alone, as soon as you start trying to put all the best parts from other cars into one car you gonna rack up a huge bill and it might not reflect all the money spent.
What is it that you like so much about this idea? Understandably you like the vk front, but after that the two cars are nearly identical apart from the interior - which is pretty esay too swap out - and the boot lip...
It would be easier to start with a vk and drop in the rb30 and just swap out the interior... Even the boot lip could be achieved with a little bit of lateral thinking, and getting this set-up engineered would be a lot easier than if you had structurally compromised the front end of a vl to drop on the vk nose.
turn a vk nto a vl heaps better idea![]()
y not just drop rb 30into a vk swap the dash and interior and bam a vk vl
i thought you could get some sort of adapter plates (or make some) cos one of my mates used to have vk bumpers all round on his vl
Ok, I am getting confused now. VryNeat, are you talking about a full vk front end (nosecone, left and right front guards, grille, bumper, headlights etc) or just the bumper bar plastic itself? Either way you would need to have it engineered because the bars join up to the bodywork at different points, so you would need to pinch the underlying metal off the vk, but could you clear that up for me?
i just mean the front bar and lights thats what i love about the vks

Ok, I took it as you wanted to do the whole front end from the firewall fowards...
The problem you will have is that the vl lights and the vk lights are very different sizes and shapes, and as such have different framework around them to attach to. In order for you to transplant the vk lights you would need to take the front clip off the vk and weld it to the vl.
Now I'm not 100% about this next part, but there is also a chance that the lights being different sizes means that you will need the front quarter guards (the guards that sit above the wheels) from the vk aswell, which would require some minor modification - probably not too much of a drama, but mr plod could still defect it if he was in the right mood.
The front bar plasytics themselves also have different anchor points, as the vl has a rounded 3 piece bar with 3 separate upper trims, and the vk has a pointed front bar without the upper trim pieces, which means you would still be able to see the locating holes for the trim pieces. Again, fixable, but a pain in the arse as it would require filling the holes and respraying the panel.
You may also experience problems with the vk front end butting up to the vl radiator, as they're pretty much jammed in there nice and tight already.
In short, I know it seems like an easy job, but it's probably much more trouble than it's worth, apologies for the novel guys.

if you were doing this because you hate the vl headlights possibly consider a calais flip-up nose cone? Far easier job with less chance of defect..
y bother if u ask me what a waste of time, just drop a rb30 in a vk an turbo it
