Hi![]()
Was hoping someone might be able to help... I have a VL commodore and one of the coolant hoses had a pinprick hole in it.. so it was replaced... then i dont know if this is coincidental but now when start the car first thing in the morning or when its cold it stalls straight away.. then after maybe about 3 goes it will stay going... it idles a little rough but not too bad... doesnt stall, and if its warmed up it starts straight away... its not blowing any smoke either. Is it maybe a failed oxygen sensor or failed airflow meter?? Any help would be much apprieciated.. Thanks![]()
could be a vaccum leak on your air intake pipe. check the clamps are tighten..
Thanks for your response.. We had already checked that, as our VL is notorious for it the clamps comming loose... so that isnt the problem this time.. thanks again![]()
auxiliary idle air control valve.
it's a valve that has a heater inside it and is bolted to the intake manifold runners.
when it's cold, it SHOULD open, letting in extra air to bump up the idle for cold start (and cater for the cold start additional fuel).
as the manifold (and heater inside the valve) warms up, it begins to close it. - when the engine is warm, it's supposed to be shut.
My guess is that your valve is stuck shut, hence the poo cold idle and healthy warm idle.
Thanks for replying..i will definately get someone to check that out.. thanks again![]()
Is it a manual or auto, if its manual make sure the big grey connection isnt connected near the tps.. thats for autos only..
the big grey plug wouldn be there if it was a factory manual
plus with the trans control computer removed it does nothing
it's an auto.. sorry i probably should have mentioned that .. Thanks for all your suggestions![]()
take the afm ehile the cars running if it stalls its still good.
do an ecu test, quick forum search in the vl area will help!
