has the length been adjusted as in where it swings in over the rocker cover there is a plastic threaded part for adjusting cable length... basically it might not be pulling the throttle plate open enough
was just about to say that until i read his post
yeah i have fidled round with the bolts to try tension the cable up so its tight but not to tight to make the car rev out when idleing.
i now have the cable mounted on the cruise control just to make the cable nice and tight but still no change in the overdrive when i hit about 70 its just pathetic haha.
could it be my trans ???

yeh there is a a wire that goes to your trans so your car will kick back when you plant it maybe that came loose or off
it could be the trans but if it was fine before you snapped the cable i dont see how it could of ****ed up
did u intall the cable right... put the accelrator flat to the floor then tighten it?? takes 2 ppl or a brick..
got done at a mate of mines mechanic shop. it feels like when i put my foot down its semi slack and not tensioned right.. hard to explain but that could be the solution! sounds right anyway. ill give it a go mate cheers.

as what v8commy was saying check above the accelerator pedal above the throttle cable there is another switch for kickdown etc....
i know its a dumb question but is it the right cable as well :P
weird weird weird just went for a drive bout 30 mins...
along high way.. kickedinto overdrive first go. then stoped... rest of drive pulled over wiggled my cable a fair bit above my rocker.. and now it goes into it every time??
wtf hahah. hope it stays this way!
thanks for the input fellas.
cheers.

sweet .. good to hear... possibly cable settling
Ive noticed in the past i lost the power from timing or overheating radiator - just a thought!!
Goodluck with her!!!
there is a detent switch for the gearbox activated off the accelerator pedal after adjusting the cable at the engine its probably just not set right to match the detent position refer to rapair manual there will be info about adjusting the detent switch in there
