Hey guy, just wanting a bit of help with this problem..... My vl is making quite a loud ticking noise on idle and when i accelerate the ticking gets faster any ideas of what it could be would be helpful.. also just today up until now my aftermarket tacho that i put has been working fine until one of my fueses blew. i replaced it with the same fuse rating and now my tac is saying i'm doing 5000 to 7000 rpms when i start to accelerate up to 60km any ideas of what would be causing that? could the problems be related? i'd be thankful for any help cheers
the ticking is just the fuel injectors, flush and replace your fluids. well thats what i think it is. and no idea on the tach problem.
might be a noisy lifter, change the engine oil or use some valvoline engine flush to clean the lifter
make sure the signal tacho is connected right and its set to 6 cylinder... if the tacho contuines to play up it could be faulty.. depending on the destince between the fuse to your tacho when the fuse went bang.... it may be damaged.
i just checked all the wiring to it and its all hooked up fine.... also put injecter cleaner in and hasn't made a difference to the ticking will buy some engine cleaner and if it still ticking i'll just take it to mechanic
depending how many k's the engines done, the injectors might be getting old.
Goodluck!!
I put in some lifer cleaner into the car and now most of the ticking has stoped.... also the engine has a miss fire could that be affecting the tacho?
nope the missfire wont affect it. Check you earth on your tacho and connections as well as the T plug on Coil which is the signal wire is not playing up
i checked the earth and its making a good strong conection.... where abouts is the t plug that i need to check
on the coil(make sure its on properly) where the signal wire is then that goes to the dash cluster's plug where you can pick up the signal and use it for your tacho(Thats what i did)
ok.. first i checked the wiring with a multi metre and it was all making strong connections... so i cleaned the pins on the coil and put come contact cleaner on them. i also pulled off the dizzy cap and gave the pins a very light sand and pushed the rotor button in a few time's.... just took car around the block and now tacho is working fine. the car didn't get up to temp but there was no small misfire either but i also going to get a tune up
