Hey there, just wondering if anyone can help me out with a weird problem with my VL N/A 6 cyl Berlina. Now I have a few ideas of what it could be as I am a fully qualified mechanic and have mucked around with VL's for a while now, but that's not to say that I know everything about them. Now the problem I have is that you can be cruising along no dramas and then out of the blue it wont rev past 2000rpm, but all you have to do is turn the car off then start it again and its good as gold again. This has only happened to me twice and that was today. I have owned the car for about 4 months now and this is the first time it has happened to me. It is a full grandpa spec that i bought off one of our customers.(I work in a ford dealership, go figure.) Got reciepts for everything done to it from when it left the plant at Elizabeth as it was a holden execs car then bought by an employee. Its only done 125k and the only mod is an exhaust from the cat back which I have fitted. Not long before I bought it, it had a new fuel filter fitted.(By me, ha ha.) I am thinking it is possibly the air flow meter or crank angle sensor, it's just weird that you can turn it off then start it straight away and it is fine. So im just throwing it out there to see what are some other peoples thoughts. Hope I havent rambled too much just trying to give as much info as i can to help with diagnosis. Cheers.

i guess it could be the cas
start by lifting the electrical plug from the dizzy/cas and see if its corroded inside, it often is
btw there are some nasty cas units available out there, apparently recond
I'd be checking the MAF. Make sure the connector is clean and tight and that the MAF itself is good.
I haven't heard of this problem appearing whilst driving, only after startup then it won't rev past 2k, somebody a few months back asked "Dr Bob" on here and I belive they narrowed it down to the tps.
Nobody wants to play with me
that sounds about right jatsvl
Yeah jatsvl, happened whilst driving. Once when cold and once when at running temp, thats why its sort of thrown me a bit, but TPS would make sense. It hasnt happened again since so im sort of waiting for it to happen again so I can get out my trusty multimeter and do some voltage readings. Poor old thing is a little bit thrashed after working at a ford dealership for 5 years, bloody testing falcon spark plug leads every second day. LOL.
Sounds like a typical af meter problem mate
never heard of it happening intermittently tho
