noisy engine
is there anyway to stop all that noise coming from your engine. its not bad its just so loud, on all old holdens at teh front all you can hear is the engine haha, the newer cars have carpert and sh1t, could you just use body deadener or anything
oh and my lifters are so loud its embarrasing when you are driving in main streets :L
i know i should clean them but meh

By the noise at the front of the engine...im assuming you're refering to the engine fan...which is there for cooling.
You could always take it off and replace with twin thermos.

u could..but i dont know if it would work.. u could take the fan off and start her up for a min or less see if that reduces the sound.. if it does u know its the fan i guess..
the engine fan isnt really noisy
some lifter treatment into the engine oil will quieten them for a while
you may have an exhaust gas leak perhaps at the exhaust manifold, the studs holding it can snap

if the exhaust is old, might be a good idea to get a new one, could be leaks n cracks along it, giving it a crap note..

cheers for the help i think it might be the fan, new exhaust and its not a deep sound. id say it would be the fan, twin thermos im not sure that would work without modyyfiyng the whole thing.
nah the lifters are beyond nulon lifter free or liqui molly LOL tried it and they dont work. next oil change ill get of my arse and fix it
so would a can of body deadener or sound deadener just make it generally quiter if i sprayed it all over the inside of the bonnet?

you can get that black looking carpet crap my old berlina had it. its all held in with press studs..
mine is a bit load(air draft noise) when the fan is actually engaged well caus its clutched it quietens soon after

did it do much good or not. i think my fan is fair fcuked anyway, then fan shourd was rubbing on it when driving becuase i found out it had no clips at the bottom and you coulnt notice it. but yeah could i just go to some wrekcers rip the carpet off or even ebay or google, and stick it to my bonnet?

maybe ur rides had a mega thrash in the past and its ticking really bad..
your oil level correct??
i wouldnt both about the carpet ideal lol transport would look at u like wtf..
save n do ur lifters.. or injectors like u said in a similar thread...
get a tool and pin point the noise.. knock and vibration is easy to feel... dont get zapped!

yeah my oil is fine but i found out it had only been getting changed every 10 thousand k's, so its well before it needs an oil change but im going to give the system a good flush and some good oil. and yeah the engine oil level is fine
well if i get bored enough one day ill probably do it. but does it actualy make a noticable differance?

I tend to dump in a bottle of stop smoke from time to time....that shuts my lifters up. With it's recent accident though, 308 here I come!

doesnt this crap lift the paint off your sump and block your engines oil gallerys and oil pump impellar

not thicken.....strip the paint from sump inner... i have heard reports from fellow members of this happening...something in the chemicals
mate you need to stop neglecting your vehicle the way you are, if you never had a good sleep or lets say a good feed/ drink after so long you will wear out and the only thing left to do is collapse, your car is going to work in pretty much the same way only it is going to cost you a hell of a lot more money to get back up and running.
You say you have that many different products in your oil already, your only going to wear out the inside of your engine mate and fast the way you are talking, champ with all due respect dump that bloody oil and atleast give her a drink of a 50 weight oil you will find that it may help reduce engine noise a bit plus give those poor lifters a minor break, your killing it man.....and i hope you have gotten the carpet ideah out of your head lol

...How am i neglecting it mate and i'm pretty sure neither of us treat our cars like shit? My engine also is fine it just has noisy lifters, and yes im going to change the oil and pour 60 doller oil into the fvcker, give it a flush and a tune aswell
i really dont think many people on this forum would treat their car like crap and abuse it. most of us are car enthusiasts
