    Default coolant level in radiator

ive been driving my car every day this week and ive been keeping my eye on everything

one thing ive noticed is that after every drive and once the car has cooled down the radiator level has dropped to about a cm or so bellow full

its always droping to the same level too

i have my over flow bottle mounted but its lower then they system, next too the front bar reo bolts on the rail

ive bleed the system with the two bolts on the manifold twice since with a funnel and pipe on the over flow pipe,
and its flows out air free

the oil cap is not creamy, dip stick is fine, nothing out exhause, its running fine

    should i be worrying?
could this be because my over flow bottle is too low and wont syphine back up?

    I think your right.

I really don't think a radiator would have the ability to suck coolant up to that level, but sure it would over flow to it.
selling vp calais wheels with 97% rubber hardly used!

well i think it could be fine as many new cars run coolant bottles lower
    few toyotas do
but not sure if the system is designed to be like that

Gday 5Speed have you go a decent seal at your overflow bottle... rad creates vacuum upon cooling and sucks the overflow back in to rad. possible could be losing vacuum and not sucking coolant back into rad

i guess u could tell if ur overflows bottle is working by the amount of fluid in it??

maybe the water could be evaporating, it is hotter times then back in the 80's..

Mate, could you check the radiator cap?

Sometimes an older cap will allow coolant loss! Probably worth a look.

well the cooling system is compeltly brand new
every pipe is new and radiator is new, radiator cap is new,

but think ive found the problem
have green dryed coolant that seeps out of the top radiator hose part of the manifold

where it bolts too the head, so obviously didnt seal 100%

so ill have to take the manifold off eventually and try again
