Just wondering if later model wheels fit a VL? VN,VP,VR and VS. Sounds like the mechanic doing the slip is playing hard ball and insisting on the original 14" rims. I have the RTA document in hand and I'm just about to confront him with it. I suspect that 15" rims should be ok.
Just spoke to him and he wont accept 15" wheels. He wants 14" only. Didn't explain why other than he doesn't want to lose his license. Wasn't prepared to even consider anything else.
did'nt some vl come with 15" wheels but also im sure u can go up 2 inchers in a wheel size b4 u need a certificate so it should b ok 2 get a blue slip or pink slip or just go c some 1 else
he means legally speaking
I've driven fast cars I've done stupid shit in them each time i seem to come out on top i love you guardian angel
vp ss 3 months to go
vb-vz all the same ve are diffnt
Thanks for the replies. We just fitted a VR/VS wheel with 205/65 15 and it fits perfectly. Even looks like it belongs. Have to find another mechanic to pass it.
Cheers
you can fit 15s with no worries calais came with 15s stock. i have 17s on my calais and its legal.
egzactly what Ben said. i have Vr clubby's on mine and there 17" and i passed roady with them on. i thought all vl's where standard 15's not 14's
ve have smaller hubs
but can be redrilled to fit. my mrs has VESSv's on her vx wagon
Thanks everyone. I've left the 15" on the rear and will go past the mechanics today and see what he thinks (don't fancy my chances after yesterday). Have to buy a mag wheel key to get the other 3 wheels off.
The difficult thing is that the car is within the RTAs rulings for wheels and tyre with the 15s but this mechanic just refuses to change his mind.
sounds like your mechanic is a bit of a looney....
go find a different one mate Best of luck!!!
14 inch rims on the base models, but 15's on the higher end stuff and anything with the bigger brakes (the 14 inch rim wont clear the calipers)
All good now. I drove the car to him with the 15's and he passed it. Took digital photo just to prove it had standard wheels (well VR anyway). Thanks for all your advise and support guys.
that mechanic is a stooge. you can go two sizes larger untill you need a certificate and other particulars
good to hear things worked out, i guess some mechanics are paranoid about losing there licence for rwc.
