hi my vl makes a knocking sound from the bay at around 3k? im driving to canberra next week from qld and jus wanna no wat i should check b4 i leave any info welcome

maybe replace the engine before leaving?

you don't wanna snap a rod from a completely destroyed big end bearing while you're in the middle of nowhere.

or give it an oil and filter change and maybe add some thicker oil additive.

realistically, its a 50/50 kinda thing....

it may very well make it without problems, it also might not.

the risk is yours to take, but I would suggest taking lots of tools (if you know what you're doing) or becoming a member of road side assistance.

Get a hirecar, might end up costing more, but you wont be stressed every single metre you travel.

drive it like a granny(I know Vl's are not meant to be) and take it easy.. Baggin it up to pass road trains aint a good thing with engine noise
