Hey ive got a 87 s2 calais and i wanna get as much power out of the n/a motor as possible without bolting on a turbo. what ive got in mind of doin so far is:
engine rebuilt
cam
chip
extractors
exhaust
head work (maybe)
now with the exhaust is it worth getting a hi-flow cat convertor or a cat back? will either of them make a difference in power?
thnx in advance
XF throttle body as well
4.11 diff.
vt brakes for safety
how much machining is in the xf TB to make it fit the vl?

first things first there is NO such thing as a s2 vl second of all i think they have finally released a stroker kit for the rb30 so if your rebuilding it and dont wanna go forced thats your best bet
I've driven fast cars I've done stupid shit in them each time i seem to come out on top i love you guardian angel
vp ss 3 months to go
makes it an rb33 when stroked
not s2 VL
but S2 Block :P
yeh sorry i meant s2 block my bad :P
and with stroking it whats involvewd with doin that? and wouldnt that class it as a high powered car cuz the reason im not goin with the turbo is cuz rules are changing in adelaide so that P platers are banned from owning them cars
Ah nicko, i have the same problem (NSW) and the laws suck. I'm pretty sure strokers arent allowed, bcoz as u say, it would class it as a high powered vehicle.. any one with info and can help us out, would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and i have a 4.11 Diff, whats the difference between that and the stock 3.45 ?
Cheers
are the VL's EFI or carby?? If carby, why not put EFI on it
vl's are EFI. thay are the 1st in aus to do it
(long LONG befor ford)
not typically no. The VL V8 was a carby fed animal (read as "slug") BUT the VL Walkinshaw was the first injected V8 with a dual high rise throttle body.
VL was not the first fuel injected commodore either. The VK was released with the EFI 202
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
