    Default Secure the boot

Is there any way you can secure the boot so no cnut can break in and steal things from it, more specificaly subs and amps?
i kno you have a boot lock but it is a vl and a flat head screw driver and my boot will probably pop open, i can't park it in a garage or anything like that and i don't live in the safest suburb either
    cheers in advance

I have a good solution for this....

Make sure your boot release button works properly and good...first push every time....

now for the lock side of things...take the lock out and you know the part that goes into the release mechanism that turns it...well take that part out so you have just the part where you stick the key in and put that back in to the boot!

now you can turn the key as much as you want it wont open the boot...the only way too open the boot now is by pressing the button OR if some pops the lock part out they can turn it with a screwdriver

im in the process of working out if you can modify that part so when you turn it with a screwdriver it wont unlock but it will when you press the button!

Well if it fails then ya screwed to the wall but there is always a way around things, im still working on it mate....

well an alarm will stop them coz most people see a red light they keep walking as it is too much hassel and it takes too long to get in....

and as for solex locks dont bother mate you can just walk up woth a pair of plires and turn the whole thing BAM ya in

    solox - crap
    normal new - is best

    its a catch twenty two
do you remove the lock and risk trusting your release button?
if it doesnt work it will be a fair effort to pop the boot with out removing your lock barrel and stuffing the panel work and paint
or remove the rear seat and some how reach the lock mechnism

best bet is alarm and securing everything properly

You could use a cable release like what the VX has as a back up . Maybe you could modify one and fit it under the back seat . So if the remote button stuffs up all you have to do is lift the rear seat up and pop the boot . Could use a bonnet cable as they are longer.

good idea man much like a petrol cap door release (usually located in boot) so if the solenoid shi*s itself it can be manually released.
just alarm it,. chances are you will get outside in-time when you hear it going off and scare the Cox away

if you change the lock so that the key bit doesn't turn it or the screwdriver shaped hole doesn't turn it, you can just push your finger to the left on the tab of metal that the solenoid grabs onto,

most of the wrecks at the tip here have no locks and all the vks and vls i just stick my finger in, i took one of these solenoids and locks and added it to my vh, for convenience but now you don't need a screwdriver to break in just ur fingers (untill i get a lock) but still, the old cars there's no real way to stop people breaking in, and even if you do spend thousands you still may just be unlucky,
