converting 6cyl to 308

hi im thinking about buying a 308 with a turbo 400 auto box tomorro to put in my 6cyl vl does anyone no how hard this will be to convert and what main things will i have to change/buy will it cost me much?? all comments welcome

You might want to ring up your road transport authority.

Putting in a 308 (From an early VK) technically will be illegal. You can only put a motor in from that model car, ie a 304 from a VL.
You might be able to get a VK motor engineered, but why bother when a VL motor is a straight swap, and all you have to do is inform them its now a V8.

Yep check first, you will at least have to run it on unleaded and run all the VL emmisions setup, I would skip it and run the VN motor

it would be a huge job and not worth the trouble, you would need differerent front springs for the extra weight
the VL v8 version with all its antipollution gear was no more powerful than the 6 and accelerated no faster

You mean the turbo 6. Not the NA 6.

no I mean the ordinary 6, the V8 was choked with anti pollution gear and still had a carby

My VK 304, was alot faster than any of my VLs. Wasn't much slower than the EFI 304 i have.

Any one got turbo parts for a vl so i can gather up a kit??
