    Default Choosing the pistons

    Hi Guys,

    Just a few questions.....

What brand of pistons have people used in the past? any recommendation? im after some forggies for my RB30 build....

Is it also worth using a VLT cam in an n/a Block? i dont think thats been covered in any of the vlt conversion posts...

    Cheers,
    Will

how big is your budget? what do you want the car to do?

I've used ACL pistons before and had no issues with them. They were a bit 'rattly' when cold because ACL spec a pretty big piston:bore clearance, but other than this I can't fault them.

Other than that I've got some ROSS forgies (which I have for sale - pm me if you're interested) which I was going to use. I believe ross are owned by ACL anyway? - the ROSS instructions specify a tighter piston to bore clearance than the ACL's.

And i've just had some SRP's fitted to my new motor - which spec an even tighter clearance again. these are a bit lighter than both the above units and machine quality appears better.

at the end of the day, it really depends what you're going to demand of them

as for the cam - if you're going to change cams, you might as well go an after market cam suited best to your application.
