my VL has a longlasting problem, sometimes on a fast curve the front wheels wobble badly which is felt in the steering wheel, feels like loose tie rod ends but they are OK, braking doesnt reduce or stop it
it was suggested steering rack could be loose, it has a bolt at each end, 1 is tight but the other, on the end that has the steering column shaft above, can be turned and never tightens, I cant find any nut on top that may need a spanner on it, is this normal?
if not how do I tighten it
also what else could be wrong, the bolts holding steering column upper part to car are tight and the wheels are in balance
it has power steering
check your radius rod bushes in the arms and crossmember , tighten your crossmember bolts , check strut nuts that hold the strut insert in , go right over your front end or have someone like pedders check it for you
last steering wobble i had was due to a bent ball joint after hitting a wombat at 140kms .
Explain to whoever what you are experiencing so they can have a close look and are aware of your problem and concerns
Could be wheel bearing..Does it make a noise?
Jack the front wheels up off the ground and move the wheel up and down, then side to side (without moving the steering). See if there's any movement.
Its a sales pitch to get you in the door , 22 years in the trade seen and heard alot of things about all sorts of bussiness within the trade , at the end of the day we all trying to make a dollar . and yes some will try to rip you off blind .
Heard many a bad thing about pedders.
Had one bloke with 6 month old shocks in the back and good suspension get quoted 3-4 grand to replace the front bushes and told they needed new rear shocks. Lmfao
