sorry if it's a newbie question, but do you guys know how extractors go on a stock exhaust, in terms of power? cheers!

not much gains as all your doing is extracting gasses faster from block but not venting them through exhaust so basically still restricted in a way..understand..go the 2.1/4 to to 2.5 setup to notice slight gains and a nice note where ppl will hear u coming.

i picked up some advance extractors with an rb30 for $75. put the extractors on anyway (with the rest of my exhaust being stock) all it really does is doesnt change the power much, when idleing the exhaust still sounds quiet and stock but when i boot it apparently sounds alot better.

extractors will give a slight increase in power (barely noticable) they will give better exhaust gas flow away from the engine in turn allowing the engine to run cooler and more free. also when on, you will not break manifold studs anymore. the stock manifold cast iron holds alot of heat which over time makes your studs brittle and more prone to break in particular the rear 4 studs.

The reason they break is the bad design of the manifold. The holes are slotted and the studs are fitted with two washers. This is supposed to allow the manifold to slide against the head because cast iron expands and contracts at a different rate than the alloy head. It doesn't work. All that happens is that when the manifold expands, the studs just bend, this weakens them to the point that they break.

Extractors will fix that, they will also improve bottom end acceleration and fuel economy.

    thanx for that!
I also noticed the engine starts alot easier with extractors.
